I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on bobcat training, I have a walker and a black and tan /bluetick cross both about six months old any advice??

get rid of one pup and buy a dog that knows what to do. the biggest mistake is to many young dogs pick the one you like more and focus on it.

lots of drags with graws bobcat scent and obedience training and just get them in the woods. also spend time with each pup by themselves you want them to be independent and a couple caged coons never hurts i am still training my pups i have two 10 month old pups that are doin great this is what i have done hope it helps

Beside what parks and andy said,find a good cathunter and try to learn all you can.Personally if I were gonna waist time with a cage I'd pick the dog who was least interested in a caged critter and then turn it loose and pick the one who then shines on the chase and the track.Don't overdo the drag thing either,as none of this stuff is real life situations as in cat hunting scenario's.

tims right none of it is real life but with young dogs the drags just help them learn to line out a track and locate a tree. The cage seems to flip a switch and really fire them up the biggest reason i like the cage coon is u hang it up a tree and lower it every couple minutes and it teaches them to stay treed. Also if you dont have an older dog you can turn the coon lose and give it a 20 min head start then road the dogs to it and at least you no there not running trash. s_parks and tim are right but in my case i didnt have connections to any cat hunters and old dogs are expensive.

thanks for the advice guys, iv been running them with some expierenced dogs and they seem to be doing good i will get them on a coon asap ... they both seem to be good dogs im keeping them they drive me crazy sometimes but i have patience for them. be glad to hear any more advice thanks alot!
