Brand new DC 40 won't turn on

Post by Spokerider »

Just got a brand new DC40 from Buddy. Charged it up today for 4.5hrs, used it on a 2.5hr hike, got back to the truck, turned it off, and now it won't turn back on? WTF? Push the OFF / ON button repeatedly, nope, won't go on. Tried putting it back on the charger.....nope, no light either, still won't turn on.

Not having much luck with Garmin Astro stuff as of late

Anyone have some info on whats wrong? Thanks.

I have found that if you take it apart and unplug the battery for 5 minutes then plug it back in it resets the collar....most of the time it will begin to work again...It looks like a million dollar company would have better product results than they do...I have 2 units and 20 collars and there is always something not working..

I had one do that. I just sent it back in I figure if its under warranty have them fix it. If it were past its warranty I would dig into it.

It's brand spanking new  Yup, you'd think Garmin would do better than release a product with so many bugs. They should put the DC30 back into production, and quit dicking with it.

I contacted Buddy to see if I may return the collar for a working one.

There isn't anything you can do but send it back. I'm sorry go ahead and ship it back and we'll get you taken care of.

I had one that did it on day one also... It sucks, and I'm sorry.

Here is a video I posted about this problem. Seams about 1 in 20 or 30 DC40's are Or were doing this, Your not alone. I'm hoping that the new collars that are coming out now have this issue resolved. I think that is why there is a back order right Now.

I can Ship you a new one but I don't have any in hand right now, Should get another shipment this week or next that your welcome to one, Otherwise I can get you a Loaner while we wait for Garmin. Last I heard Garmin had a Month delay in getting collars back.

We'll do what we can to keep you hunting.

Here is a simple video I made regarding this issue.. It's nothing special but I've seen quite a few of the issue you are discribing and I sent 7-8 collars back two weeks ago, and have another 3-4 collars that I need to call in for the same issue.

i had the same thing with 2 new 40's. 1 worked for 4 times hunting then died the other i used once. they went back to garmin they got there today and they told me they had collors waiting to ship to me as soon as mine got there. so with that said i agree they should bring the 30's back. i got 3 of them and the only problem i got is the batterys go dead way to fast. lucky if i get 7hrs out of them.

Buddy,
Thank you for your great service. I have shipped the collar back as asked.

I'm at a loss as to why Garmin has not even recognized this DC40 issue on their web site FAQ section? Consumers are left to research / troubleshoot known issues on their own. Hummm.

Now, just when is Marshal coming out with their GPS system.........
