Hey fellas,

Were looking too possibly get our hands on some catch dogs up here. Pit's are heard too come by up here and Bull Dogs cost alot of money. We were thinking instead of going through a bunch of "pets" up here we might be further ahead too buy some trained dogs and have them flown up here. If anyone would like too comment or has something they think would work id like too hear from ya. We'd like too get 2 that are the REAL DEAL. were hunting russian hogs, alot of them are getting up over 400 pounds and up. They seem pretty rough. Thanks!

Have you looked into the Dogo there are getting to be a few in U.S. might not cost too much to get some up there.

Thats a lot of hog fleash you have to deal with We dont have dogos over here so i have know first hand knowlegde of the breed but what Ive seen from video the always seen to be fighting the pig rather than catching it. Over here in Australia we prefere a dog to catch on the ear only and then lay up the side of the pig out of the way. we use dogs like bul terrier x mastiff .bull terrier x greyhound or staghound and bull Arab and aussie pig dog losely made up from bully greyhound,pointer and some hound or dane blood. best of luck catching those big suckers and your search for a siutable dog or two.

Personally, I would reccommend a dogo.

Hagarman, on this site, has a litter due soon, I believe he may also have some Am Bull dogXs due soon, and his prices are pretty reasonable. If you want a trained one, that can be arranged, but expect to pay for it.

I sure didn't expect anyone too give me one. I've bin running dogs long enough on lion to know how this works. Like I said if anyone has some good no BS catch dogs they want to sell get in touch. If I wanted a pup or a young dog that hasn't done anything I'd get some up here.

You could fill a truck full of decent catch dogs for the price of a dogo in this neck of the woods. i really dont like spending much money on a catch dog, they will get cutt down sooner or later. to kinda find out what you are looking for are you wanting a running catch dog or a lead in. Dont know much about the way yall hunt up there but there are pros and cons to both.

Thanks, that's what I figured about the Dogos too. We bayed three today and I coulda walked a catch dog into them no problem. I'm starting too realize we need a catch dog not only too get ahold of the hog but also too get the dang hounds captured!

the pounds up there anit got no pits ? thats what i would get , an if you can walk up close to them then wont take long for them to learn to go to a bay , get you a good 50 or 60 pound pit an it will catch big hogs an hold them , mines 42 pounds an holds hogs nice, i also use a staghound , yall have any of those up there ? they might work an they prolly got them up there for yotes

That's the problem the pounds won't let anyone "adopt" pits up here, apparently they don't want anyone getting bit. A lady gave me a Bull Mastiff that was killing all her cats and any other small animals it encountered, were gonna try it out, it's 90 lbs hopefully it's not to big. dont be scared to look at the pets. i know quite a few catch dogs that use to be pets or were free to good home. one of the best ive seen was a dog that killed a neighbors goat buddy got it for free. all we had to do was show him a hog and it was on. took him a while to figure out what the bay was but once it clicked he was like a missle.

my main catch dog came out of the house an old lady said he was to hyper he was almost 2 when i got him an he is a hog catching machine

I'd have to 2nd Broncobilly on Hagermans ABs & 3/4 Dogo Catahoula pups! If your catching em that big & that many sooner or later your gonna run out of pound dogs. Those things are bad to the bone and worth feeding up!

Heck in the south youll never run out of back yard bull dogs lol, wish i could. but at this point i run mainly catch dogs, i got a serious catahoula FL cur cross and another catahoula (but he opens, so hes kinda on this chopin block) also got a young black mouth and a great kemmer thats with pups for a while. but behind them i run a straight 50/50 birdbull and 2 pitts. payed 50 for the birdbull both pitts free. ive lost 2 dogs now sence the first of jan and none have been catch dogs. Im only running one trail dog and the 3 catch dogs and its working out but that being said all my catch dogs are running catch so they roll out with the cur. just food for thought i hunt in the mountains in north carolina and the swamps of south carolina and so far that style is working for me. dont know about canada tho lol.

I got some stag hound pit cross pups on the way. Shire is a finished catch dog he's an 80 lb red nose pit dame is a stag hound out of cyote killing machines. Pm me if interested

I dont no about those catch dog types. We bay up alot of big russians up in northern cali. my bay dogs do the trick just fine. The guys I hunt with that use catch dogs are sowing up there dogs every night. Just saying.
