Grawes lure vs bear hide
I am having an issue with my dogs not hitting on the Grawes lure when I am trying to train, but the will light up like no other on a piece of bear hide. They seem to not know what to think of the Grawes. They will trail it but won't rig it. They seem confused, like there is something missing from the scent. They will pick their noses up and smell it but won't hit on it when rigging. When trailing the grawes they seem to be doing it off curiousity more than anything else. Has anyone else on here ever encountered this. My buddy that I got my finished dog from said he has had the same issue. The Grawes mt lion and bobcat scents seem to work flawlessly though.
Re: Grawes lure vs bear hide
I've had the same experience. I don't even want to try to think about why, because I have no idea about what it requires to make bottled scents. My pups will trail it, but after they've been on a few bears they seem to lose interest in the bottled stuff. You are right about the mt. lion and bobcat scents too, they work well even on veteran dogs as a refresher before the season starts. I have never found a bottled bear scent that comes close to replacing the real thing.

dogs have told you all you need to know . i went through the same thing with cronks bear scent . fresh bear hide is the way to go if they cant run the real thing . i would take a blanket a pet bear slept on and drag it before i would spend my money on that crap again lol.
