Re: Houndmen always getting put out
Were beating a dead horse, the hound council is nothing but a umbrella club to the existing clubs. The wa state hound council has no direction unless giving one by one of the existing clubs! So the reason every body is bitching is because most clubs host events to raise money, an not fight for our hunting rights! YOU CANNOT fight any fight with out funds!!! Most clubs seem to be bassed around events because most people who hunt do not show up or support anything anymore. LCSA- was formed to help fix this problem. If people have deep pockets an want to start a new club to help change the direction of the hound council with out holding any events, Iam all for it!! But don't beat the dead horse we all helped kill!!!!! Just about every state has clubs that hold events were friends an family can gather in the off season an bring there dogs an help raise money to help keep our heritage alive, even if u don't like running your dogs people can still show up an buy a burger or some raffle tickets to support the clubs which is what drives the hound council. Y do the events have such a bad name an Outlook in wa?

Re: Houndmen always getting put out
The water race has nothing to do with the banquet, just happens to sponsored by the same club throwing a water race down the road from the grange. I don't disagree with anyone, I said these are all problems most of us want fixed including me. I also said I would like to hear what's in the making with this an that's y I think its selfish to schedule on top of a event that's been on the books for a long time! So you also need to read further into what one is saying.

Re: Houndmen always getting put out
Looks like we have a couple chats going on in a couple different places.
Jason, I am just some idiot up the way. I don't really know whats going on but I have a couple quick questions.
Can you give me some examples of what money was spent on the last few years to advance hunting in our state? Did we sponsor some legislation or something that I didn't get to be a part of? Is it just the operational cost of running a club/council? Maybe we bought prizes to be raffled off at deer and elk clubs, preceded by a small speech about how hounds can benefit deer and elk hunters?
These are some expenditures that I could see being advantageous. And I suppose if I had attended a few meetings I would have a better handle on things. I also know that there are people around that are willing to donate some money. Not because we have deep pockets but because we are willing to eat ramen noodles if we have a chance to get some hunting back. It is just hard to rally the troops when they feel like they have been forgotten.
I hear a lot about generating money but I am not sure what the money is used for.
Thanks,
George

Re: Houndmen always getting put out
I believe after saturday we will have a better idea of the direction we are headed. I think at this point we are better off writing down our thoughts and bringing them up on
saturday. This is a postive step for all Houndsmen. If you are unable to attend, e-mail or pm someone your concerns or ideas to share at the meeting. I would be happy to forward anyone's comments at the meeting if anyone is unable to attend.

Re: Houndmen always getting put out
Well i don't hold a position in the council nor do I have the treasure report Iam just some idiot down here. But most of the money we have raised is in the bank waiting for some one like yourself to come along an take the rains. Also normal cost to operate the clubs an council, the council fronts the money for the banquet buys items for raffle an small donations etc...
This is the part the bothers me George, the troops have not been forgotten- the troops seem to have better things to do then attend anything to show support. If the troops would show up an or support somthing the council would be headed in a different direction. An you hit it on the head of the nail- if u would have showed up to any meetings then u might have a better idea to what's happening.
I've said it before an ill say it again seems some of us on here don't understand, I agree with you what's being said an we need a change an Iam for the change but don't schedule on top of a event that's already on the books that way everbody can hear what's happening. I think a push such as this is what's needed.

if we are trying to banned together, like you guys are all saying, having this meeting while a club holds a event 20 minutes away seems like poor planning. if people go to the event they look bad for "not wanting to help change" and if you skip the event your not showing support to the only club willing to rent out the grange to have a banquet each year.

Re: Houndmen always getting put out
There will be plenty of time for discussion @ the Hound Council Meeting which is AFTER the Field Trial so for those going to the Field Trial this should be no big deal. Sounds to me that some of the folks are going to the WSHC Banquet and weren't planning on attending the Field Trial anyway and just thought they would like to meet before the Hound Council Meeting and Banquet to share some ideas about trying to get Houndmen back in the woods and better our hound hunting opportunities- this in turn will give us something to discuss @ the Hound Council meeting. Even though they don't field trial, they may even stop in for a burger who knows? But just having people show is a positive. I am part of the Olympic Tree Hound Ass. and I for one am not in anyway bothered by the timing of this. I have also talked with a few other members and they are also ok with this. With that being said- write down your ideas and present your thoughts at the Hound Council Meeting. Don't forget to bring lots of money for the WSHC auction!
