I know that there is a fella in Wyoming hunting some of Gregs plotts, closely related to the Socki dog, that do extremely well on bobbers. I have one that does a decent job but I haven't hunted a lot of bobbers. She is fast and has a pretty good nose.

Tim,
I have 4 dogs from Greg. 3 are still pups. The oldest is almost 2 years old.

I ran him alot on bobs this winter. He blew my mind. He out did my older dogs to the point that he was the only dog I would take when we had a good snow.

The thing that set this dog apart from my others was his brain. He is freakishly smart. He quickly figured out that on really old tough tracks, he could run them lots faster by sight and get to where he needed to be. He is always learning and each time you put him down he is better than the last.

He is almost silent untill he gets it jumped then he starts choppin' away. He sure can move fast on a jumped bobcat.

The last bobber I dumped him on was midday right on the snow line. The track was covered in spots from melting snow falling from the trees and went between bare ground and melting snow. I told my buddy " there is no way that we are ever gonna get this cat jumped. Lets get the dogs and go up to better snow. We lost my dog. When we finally found him, he had the cat jumped and was burning it. Then we had a trash wreck. Long story about that part.

The dog is also double tough and doesn't know what pain is or how to quit. When he was running the bobcat I just told you about, he had one leg that was swollen and had a gash on it that was held closed with staples. The day before he had a pretty good romp with a coati and the dang thing only got ahold of him once but it severed an artery in the leg and my dog lost a lot of blood. It didn't slow him down though. Watching the dogs hunt, you would have never guessed what happened the day before.

The dog also has incredible endurance and the tough feet to match.

If it seems like I'm a big fan of Greg's dogs, its because I am. I have hunted with Greg and his dogs and left amazed. They made bear hunting look like coon hunting, just so simple and easy.

Greg doesn't own dog aggresive dogs at all. The first time they show aggresion is the last time. I agree with krk they will do well on anything. As for endurance that is no problem either. My little gyp was laid up for all of September due to being in heat, didn't leave the kennel. The first week of October I took her to Michigan and the first day she ran all day with my buddies dogs that had been hunting for two months. Last spring on bear I hunted with Socki as well and just like has been said was always there. To me I don't think that you can go wrong getting a plott from Greg. Give him a call and he will tell you about his dogs as well. There won't be any sugar coating either.

I have to go with what Reed said. Greg doesn't own or breed dog fighters.

All of my dogs from Greg are very good natured.

Just remember that it doesn't matter what breed of dog you mess with, the biggest factor about it getting along with other dogs is YOU.

My dog is from Cabo and Darrus Martin's Brandy dog.

my adden-in is short but too the point/ Tommy Burns,Boone Shockly both told me yrs ago about young dogs (and both hunters are top trainers) and top cat dog men/ a snowcat is the hardest bobcat too learn and it shows a young dog is starting too finish-out when he can successfully (solo) and on 4 snow cats show ya the meat at least 3 of the 4 times. I added in myself 3-4 neither Tommy nor Boone gave an number of successfull outcomes they just said when he can tree own snow cat solo . nuff said by me...

I don't know all of the bloodlines of Gred's dogs, but he has some of Darrus martins Weems/Burnside stock that was crossed on my old Idaho Susie dog, Ursus/Dollins that have proven their worth on bear and lions. Fast, good nosed, tough, and good looking to boot.
