Training pup
Training pup
Hi everyone I'm new to bobcat hunting and I have a 10 month old kemmer cur I'm training on bobcats. What's the best way to get her started? I have been told to get grawes scent and make a track and throw a bobcat mount or hide in the tree so dog learnes to locate. Will this method work? There is no snow to walk her out tracks here until next November. Any help or info on how to get her started will be very appreciated. Thanks Jesse

Re: Training pup
There is still snow in some places where the bobs live. Drive to the snow level lines after a rain below. The cats will move and walk em out til she takes it. Trainers and lions can help, but not teach her to catch a bobcat. The drive and brains gotta be there. Running with a bobcat dog is the best deal if you can go with somebody. If you can buy an older pup trainer thats good too. I have one I could sell, but she is hot nosed and runs bear, lion and coon as well.

Get with a cat hunter that will let you take your dog along. Dewey

On the last line of info to fill out on the search engine click on the down arrow and hit all as to the number of characters in the Post that you want to search for.
We all do not mind going back over the things that work for us in trainingm however the Archives have some very good things from Hunters who are no longer on the Site. Also with a little background from previous Posts you may have a more Precise Question to ask!
Also different areas and the Type and Strains of Hounds that work in these areas will require different methods to develope Hounds that produce Game. The Archives have info that Very Good Hunters from all these different regions have contributed!
