I don't want to sound like an animal rights person, but what the f#ck would you do if some giant kept whooping your ass? The badass bloodline doesn't have sh!t to do with anything, Steve Matthes doesn't raise and breed dogs anymore, so its not his line. A hound is no different than any other dog, treat it how you want to be treated. If you got it from someone, they whooped its ass too and it doesn't trust people. I beat my redbone when I was young and dumb and he started snapping at my friend's kid. It took a while, but I realized if you treat it mean, it will be mean, plain and simple. Dogs are damn smart, quit paying attention to the stereotypical hound hunters training methods and put yourself in your dog's foot steps! How well would you learn by getting beaten for doing the wrong thing, thrown in a cage, and had no idea what the right thing is?

True, but theres usually a reason for being an asshole. Like the idea of a father beating his son and the son ends up a bully and insecure. A domestic canine wants to please its master. If the master doesn't respect that desire, the dog doesn't know its purpose and it becomes insecure and defensive. A person has raised the mentioned dog since it was born, somewhere between being born and now theres a reason for its insecurity, most likely for getting its ass whooped.

Treat your dog like a border collie, a super smart yet sensitive dog. You'll sh!t yourself when you see the results.

I can assure I have never physically disiplined my dog until 2 months ago, for the first time. The breeder has also mentioned that the dogs full sister was put down by a houndsmen in new mexico because she grew extremely agressive. I wish I was the dog whisperer but I'm not. I hope he makes someone else a great hunting dog that knows the dog is strictly a working dog and not a family pet. Anyways thanks for your input

I had a grade dog that was from Western WA, awesome dry ground bobcat and coon dog. He was meaner than shit, not sure if it was just the dogs itself or how it was raised. The kid that raised him got in a car wreck and had permanent brain damage so he couldn't hunt it anymore. The dog transfered hands many times, the kid I got him from was into some hard drugs at the time. Me and a different friend were bear hunting on wheelers and that dog got tangled up with another stud because the chains were too long on the strike platform. The two studs were bout to go fist to cuff so my friend reached in to untangled them and the dog put a hole through the palm of his hand. Then an hour later it decided to piss on his back while he was driving the wheeler. That dog went back to Western WA.

Browse the internet about dog training. "The Dog Whisperer" does a pretty good job, he knows a lot about dog behaviour and how they learn. I bet you'll find the time invested in reading will pay off greatly in the future.

i believe alot of dogs bite out of fear ,but some bite because they are just pricks .you cant just pat these dogs on the head ,and it will be alright . i have two children that if im not around i exspect the dogs i have in the yard to play with ,and be fed without a worry.not to mention the wear and tear to the rest of your pack from a dog like that.your not always going to be there when an unstable dog does its thing period. cut your losses and move on cause there is a good hound out there that is more deserving of your devotion in my opinion .

Just keep babying it along, be real patient and loving and after it bites some toddlers face off just say no in a real sweet voice. Are you serious! No reason to keep a dog like that! Cull it.

I agree with you completely. My lady and I plan to have kids in a few years and that was my biggest concern. that and all the children in the area I live in if the dog were ever to get out. The dog did tear the shit out of my blue tick male also. Put holes in his neck and paws but I was fortunate enough that he didn;t kill Peete. Now Peete hides under the bed and inside the tool shed when the walker is out. He is outta here this week. The breeder wants him back, so by all means. I'll be cut down to two dogs but the liability will be gone. Thanks for your input
