NEED UR OPINION!! TREEING, BUT NO COON

I've never had a hound slick 28 times. But do have problems hunting coon the first couple nights in co. Every time I take dogs trained here up and turn them loose in the river bottoms they pull some real embarrassing stunts for a couple days. Back trailing changing tracks running stupid. But that's normally why they make the trip to build self confidence and fire. I only hunt there once in a couple years but it works. I'd guess you got taken and should steer clear off the seller except to get your opinion voiced. Sorry I personally think this behavior is one of the leading causes of turning folks away from hounds

the other day it snowed a couple of inches. i took her out to see what the hek to she was doing. i thought that if she treed i could see if there were any tracks or not. i put her down where i usually do. there was no tracks around and she didnt go out at all like she usually does. so she gotta be chasing something. i think once she has trouble with the track she is running she starts to tree. is this possible?

There are a hundred reasons she may be pulling up early and slick treeing...laziness, inability to finish track, etc etc. A lot of young dogs that are strongly "tree bred" have to be watched for this. They can't finish the math, so they get the wrong answer. Before scolding for the slick, I'd try leading her around the tree and seeing if she'll pick up the track again. If that doesn't work, she just may be a tree happy idiot without the tools to be a complete dog.

Either way, this is a problem a just started dog should be getting worked through, not a 7 year old hound unless it's done nothing but sit on a chain.
