Re: BILL INTRODUCED TO BAN PURSUIT OF BEAR AND BOBCAT IN CA
Wayne Pacelle, if HSUS is for the animals and against animal cruelty then why not put all your money into a crusade to ban all vehicles and airplanes? These forms of transportation kill wildlife, domestic animals, and birds daily...Every second and every hour there are animals being killed in our highways airways, and roadways; if you truly want to save our animals then start this battle. Not only will you save our environment but all the natural resources and wildlife. All you folks that hide behind HSUS and PETA well it’s time, take a stand do not be hypocrites! Is it getting a bit uncomfortable? Or are we just followers and go with what others believe in and think we are doing a just cause…
Your motives are honorable so I commend you all, prevent one last deer from being hit and left there to die slowly injured and eaten alive by vultures why it still breathes it's last breath? Wayne Pacelle will you refuse to use your vehicles as a form of transportation... "Say, NO to ROAD KILLS".... All commerce will stop, no more trees will be cut down nor delivered, and we don’t even have to worry about caged chickens anymore because we won’t be able to deliver them nor their eggs… Can you imagine you will stop farmers and ranchers from slaughtering and harvesting their beef and produce? How will all this be delivered? How will we eat? I guess we have to hunt, I'm all for that, I can ride a horse can you? Are you willing to give up your freedoms and privileges for this cause? To save thousands of animals from road kills? Say “NO” to SB1221....

(KGO) -- The stage is set for a battle Tuesday morning in Sacramento over a bill that would ban the use of dogs in hunting bears and bobcats. One big complaint is that the dogs attack any wildlife and even pets and livestock on private land, but the biggest issue is what happens on the hunt for bears and bobcats.
On a recent Saturday night at the Tehama County Fairgrounds, 500 hunters who use hounds were preparing for a fight. "We're your neighbor. We're your friend, your coworker," says Josh Brones with the California Houndsmen for Conservation. "But, we're all freedom-loving Americans who just want to be left alone." They were raising money, auctioning a puppy, raffling off rifles, including some for women and children, to oppose Senate Bill 1221 that would ban the use of dogs in the hunting of bobcats and bears.
Sen. Ted Lieu is sponsoring the bill because he believes outfitting dogs with radio collars violates the concept of a fair chase. "This marauding pack of dogs chasing the bear until the bear's exhausted, bear then climbs up a tree, the hunter notices that [on the] GPS [the] dogs have stopped around one area, hunter goes and looks at the bear and shoots the bear," Lieu said. Lieu took up the issue after State Fish and Game Commission President Dan Richards shot and killed a mountain lion in Idaho using hounds. Mountain lions are protected in California.

I think after the vote were on our way out, give me a break, were killing pets and livestock on private property, raffleing guns to children, and I guess legal or not were all using GPS, that should just about do it.

I think showing the bear getting mauled was not cool. Or the biased survey done the people pushing the bill (the hsus) come on.

Re: BILL INTRODUCED TO BAN PURSUIT OF BEAR AND BOBCAT IN CA
Well, that was enlightening. Way to just point out the bad points Mr Noyes and completely disregard any positive insights I KNOW many Houndsman gave you during your selective interviews. Also way to allow Senator Lieu to lie on national television about the use of GPS collars on hounds that if you did any research at all would know that its against the law with a hefty fine in California.
Also did you actually look into WHERE this supposed "poll" was taken and the specific wording and mentioning the use of hounds on bears to determine if it was legitimately 83% of Californians statewide or 83% of Californians in a SPECIFIC area/county/region?
Not to mention..SB 1221 is not ONLY about banning the use of hounds to pursue bears and bobcats, what about the bottom section of this bill that allows the killing of our dogs!? I don't see you bringing light into that aspect of the bill that in my opinion should of been hammered on from the very start. I understand the current law states the same as I just said, but what of a ANIMAL RIGHTS ORGANIZATION actually supporting such a bill that allows the killing of dogs as any warden see's fit? Heaven forbid we shed light onto the HSUS supporting such a bill and letting the citizens of this state to see their TRUE COLORS!
In MY opinion that report lacked the "unbiased opinion" you had previously stated. Good try though, and thank-you for investing time into this issue. Maybe when the state tries taking away coon hunting you can try again and maybe spend more time researching what people tell you rather than just assuming since they are in a political power position they know what they are talking about!
How frustrating to watch someone bullface lie on a matter they know nothing about. More fuel for my fire I suppose. I'm a woman that is a forced to be reckoned come tomorrow. I will see those who are attending bright and early! May God help us in our fight to keep our dogs in the woods.

Mr Noyes,
I reported what I saw first hand.[/quote]
REALLY?
did you witness first hand the hunts that you aired ?? I bet not, you wanna show both sides ? why not show my so called pack of blood thirsty killers playing with my kids in my yard ???
why not show us releasing the vast majority of game we catch? and where were you today ? were you afraid to show your face after that stunt you pulled last night or were you were nowhere to be found because god forbid that you show the thousand hunters who showed up to protest this bill. god forbid your viewers actually see that we out numbered the hsus 10 to 1
you are a liar and a joke and you were either paid off by the hsus to report that crap or to stupid to know the truth if it slapped you in the face

Wow, I was there, standing with my cameraman in the front of the room. Wish you had said, "hello". The point about "witnessing the hunts firsthand" was in a conversation about a past report I did about open field coursing -- I saw that firsthand. We included footage from Dan Tichenour of a bear he treed and did not take. Josh Brones put the total at 600 hunters there -- I will report that they "vastly outnumbered" those supporting the bill today. I guess you don't share the opinion of hunters who came up to me to say they appreciated "the objective report", in their words.

I think the worst thing you did was show the cub being mauled I think showing over and over gives people the wrong idea about what bear hunting all about. Its not about the kill but the.chase.
