Excerise roading.

So here is the question. How much do dogs needed roaded to stay in shape in the off season? And do you think the temperature when your roading matters (say if your used to hunting hot, do you road only when its hot) ?

Hunting a young pack, first thing in the morning. I like to find a good steep grade 3 or 4 miles long. I push them up it as fast as I can. Helps take some of the piss and vinegar out of them. But, roading dogs is very enjoyable for me. Old dogs watch their business, young dogs watch the old dogs do their business, and I just sit back grinning watching all the dogs and thinking, life just dont get much better than this. Thank you, John.

I couldn't have said it better myself. You learn a lot spending time "not hunting" and just watching your dogs.

In between seasons I road mine 2-3 a week. Alternating between running in sand an up hill gravel. I pay no attention to the weather.
