Make a few calls for the CA hounders today!!
Hound hunters and supporters need to call these four senators right now in regard to Senate Bill 1221.
Sen. Evans- 916 651 4002
Sen Padilla 916 651 4020
Sen Simitian 916 651 4011
Sen Wolk 916 651 4005
Make a brief statement like this "Hi My name is __________ I'm calling to encourage the senator to vote NO on Senate bill 1221 regarding hound hunting in California"
It literally takes two minutes to call them!!! Please take the time to help out the CA hound hunters.
Sen. Evans- 916 651 4002

Sen Simitian 916 651 4011
Sen Wolk 916 651 4005

Anti-hunting Bill Clears California Senate Committee
(Columbus) – California legislation that would ban the use of hounds to hunt black bears and bobcats was passed out of committee today. Opponents of Senate Bill 1221 were unable to convince members of the Natural Resources Committee that the bill was unnecessary and a product of political revenge. The committee approved SB 1221 by a 5 to 3 vote. There was one abstention.
The bill, which is sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), triggered an outpouring of opposition from California sportsmen, sportsmen’s organizations in the state, and on a national level, including the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA). More than 600 opponents sporting orange NO on SB 1221 buttons packed the committee room and the corridors of the capital to make sure their Senators knew where they stood.
“It is unbelievable that the members of this committee ignored the thousands of calls, emails and letters along with the dedicated sportsmen and women who took off work to be here today to oppose this unfair and unjustified attack on California hunters," said Evan Heusinkveld, USSA’s director of state services. “But we are not giving up. We are prepared to make our case to the full Senate.”
USSA has been working with the Masters of Foxhounds Association, California Houndsmen for Conservation and the California Outdoor Heritage Alliance to defeat SB 1221.
California sportsmen should contact their senators today. Let them know that SB 1221 is an attack on all hunting. Hunting with hounds is an essential tool to control black bear numbers.

This is disgusting. I should have gotten out of this state while I could. I made several calls including the fact that the suffering deer populations are going to further decline due to the now very unchecked balance of bears praying on the fawn deer.

Get'em up there boys!

Re: Make a few calls for the CA hounders today!!
I heard the hearing online. I too called and wrote letters prior.
The anti-hunting establishment is making this an ethical argument. Why isn't anyone calling them out on the hypocrisy of this bill. They say it is unsporting and cruel to the animal and the hounds. However, the State of CA already uses hounds in their research. AND, as part of the bill, make an exemption for their own. So, THEY can use hounds to aid in research and also for depredation.
If it is so cruel and inhumane, as well as ineffective (which they stated as reasons for this bill), why does the govt. get to hunt with hounds, but we the people, don't?
It doesn't make ANY sense!

I hope their isn't a houndsmen in the state that will aid in there needs of bear management if this passes and if you must i hope you sure charge quite a pretty penny that allows you to build a sweet doggy barn that they can relax in all year because there goes all our runnable game if this goes.

Time to get back to hammering at our law makers

But even after all this BS we cannot and will not stop it's not in us to give up! This is not going to heard until the 8th of August so we have been told.
