S.B. 1221 IN CALIFORNIA
California Senate Bill 1221 was passed today by a 3 to 2 vote. The trapping Bill 1480 I beleive was also passed.
Good old California in action I guess. Other states looking better all the time now.

Anti-hunting Bill Clears California Senate Committee
(Columbus) – California legislation that would ban the use of hounds to hunt black bears and bobcats was passed out of committee today. Opponents of Senate Bill 1221 were unable to convince members of the Natural Resources Committee that the bill was unnecessary and a product of political revenge. The committee approved SB 1221 by a 5 to 3 vote. There was one abstention.
The bill, which is sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), triggered an outpouring of opposition from California sportsmen, sportsmen’s organizations in the state, and on a national level, including the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA). More than 600 opponents sporting orange NO on SB 1221 buttons packed the committee room and the corridors of the capital to make sure their Senators knew where they stood.
“It is unbelievable that the members of this committee ignored the thousands of calls, emails and letters along with the dedicated sportsmen and women who took off work to be here today to oppose this unfair and unjustified attack on California hunters," said Evan Heusinkveld, USSA’s director of state services. “But we are not giving up. We are prepared to make our case to the full Senate.”
USSA has been working with the Masters of Foxhounds Association, California Houndsmen for Conservation and the California Outdoor Heritage Alliance to defeat SB 1221.
California sportsmen should contact their senators today. Let them know that SB 1221 is an attack on all hunting. Hunting with hounds is an essential tool to control black bear numbers.

Re: S.B. 1221 IN CALIFORNIA
whats the point of calling your senator if they really dont give a f**k what you have to say ?
senator pavely continually talked about gps being unfair, obvusaly she didnt listen to anything anyone said and she had no clue what she was talking about. both senaors padilla and connella got up and walked out durring the testamony and i believe it was kehoe who didnt even show up till it was time to vote.

Re: S.B. 1221 IN CALIFORNIA
exactly i was getting so mad about the gps. I don't know about you guys but i'm pretty sure it's obvious we don't run them in our state. Our RADIO collars are one thing thats a must. Sorry we don't want our hounds to be gone, people micro chip there dogs, cats and tweety birds for the same reason. It was a horrible potrayal of our government who clearly doesn't care about it's people. Thank goodness least we have La Malfa

These people need to be voted out, and replaced with one's that want to protect this countries heritage. I'm afraid It's the only way. John

The turnout of houndsmen yesterday was overly impressive, I was proud to be there.
I heard 700 and I wouldn't doubt it.
The proponents of the bill had a much weaker showing.
CHC leadership did a fantastic job.
Our biologist expert sounded very credible. DFG testimony was favorable, even though they couldn't say it. We need more witnesses like the bee keeper industry rep.
Senator La Malfa did as much as we could ever ask and then a little more for us. We owe that man a steak dinner and some beer.
Senator Jean Fuller made the proponents "expert" look like a hack. We owe her as well, her expression when he was contradicting himself was priceless.
Committee chair Fran Pavley displayed her lack of reading comprehension. If she can't even understand the Facts distributed to her in their materials (the No GPS regulation) then how can she run the show and be credible. No less than half a dozen times in her wrap up did she base her vote on our being able to use GPS in CA.
In all losing this round hurts bad, but any sensible unbiased individual could see that the houndsmen and their representatives looked a whole lot better yesterday.

Time to get back to hammering at our law makers
This is the next group of DISTINGUISHED LAW MAKERS we cannot miss or trust any of them, this last time we trusted Gattos office, after he did not vote the 1st time and his rep came looking for us in the hall way of the Capital and asked us to give his office a break we thought that he would stand his ground and not vote at the re-vote, this was our mistake and now regaurdless of what any of these RAT BASTARDS ask of us we cannot back off I don't care what piolitical party they are with they ALL need to feel the pressure, we have been told that the chair will listen something we haven't ran into yet, DO ALL YOU CAN, THIS FIGHT IS NOT OVER! we have been lied to/lied about/miss lead/and shit on! But even after all this BS we cannot and will not stop it's not in us to give up! This is not going to heard until the 8th of August so we have been told.

From my information, the Governor signed SB 1221 into law today in California, so I guess we lost the battle at the end!

Re: S.B. 1221 IN CALIFORNIA
LAWSUIT!!!!! Y'all need to slap a lawsuit on the state of California. They are discriminating against houndsmen. This is the same tactics that the gays and anti's have used. It's been tried and true. Also anyone who's making a living with hounds should go after the state. Any simple little thing that you can get a lawsuit out of, go after them. Pretty soon it'll be cheaper to give you your way. If nothing else it's worth a try!
Re: S.B. 1221 IN CALIFORNIA
I know that when the antis dont get their way they file a law suit and get it tied
up in the courts for a long time. I agree with Shorty on this one, might be worth a try. They cant take anything else away from you, time to get dirty!!!!

I have been hoping for some kind of statement from the CHC that they are going to file and they have a plan but nothing. I am just glad i live close enough to nevada to hunt there.
