Hi Jason,

pchop wrote:I think showing the bear getting mauled was not cool.

Personally, I think standing back and videoing a bear getting mauled was not cool. Why would someone not intervene? With friends like these, who needs the HSUS?!?

Or the biased survey done the people pushing the bill (the hsus) come on.

Dan Noyes made it clear that the survey was commissioned by HSUS.

Guys,

You should not blame the messenger, but instead focus your frustration on the idiots that let their dogs maul a bear while they callously recorded the event with their camera. Dan Noyes is not the problem. These guys that make the rest of us look bad are the problem.

If I didn't already know just how rare an event like that is, I would be inclined to ban the practice, too. Seeing that kind of treatment of animals should turn any reasonable person's stomach, be they houndsman or otherwise.

Hi Kelly,

Well, that was enlightening. Way to just point out the bad points Mr Noyes and completely disregard any positive insights I KNOW many Houndsman gave you during your selective interviews.

1. Dan Noyes included our comments regarding the inherently non-consumptive nature of hound hunting not once, but twice in the news story.
2. Dan Noyes included our reaction to the footage provided to him by HSUS where he indicated that is was extremely rare.
3. Dan Noyes included a portion of when we said the Pledge of Allegience as well as comments indicating that, "we are your friend, your neighbor," etc in the story; doing so humanizes hound hunters and reinforces the fact that we are just like everybody else.
4. Dan Noyes included a comment that illustrates how passionate we are about our hounds and furthers the argument that this is an integral part of our identity.

Also way to allow Senator Lieu to lie on national television about the use of GPS collars on hounds that if you did any research at all would know that its against the law with a hefty fine in California.

You got him here. I, too, think Dan Noyes should have done his homework and called this out to the viewer's attention.

Also did you actually look into WHERE this supposed "poll" was taken and the specific wording and mentioning the use of hounds on bears to determine if it was legitimately 83% of Californians statewide or 83% of Californians in a SPECIFIC area/county/region?

You could win another point, here, too. Though he did indicate the study was commissioned by HSUS, Dan Noyes could have scrutinized the survey for its fidelity.

I personally think Dan Noyes gave us a fairly decent treatment given the amount of time allotted. I've seen much worse.

I would love to see Dan focus his investigative skills and efforts in scrutinizing what makes HSUS tick and what keeps them funded; most unknowing individuals are incredibly surprised by what they find. He could garner some pretty prestigious journalism awards on this material alone.

BOTTOM LINE IS, OUR WORST ENEME IS WITH-IN OUR OWN RANKS, just look at u-tube at all the morons who post the crap of there dogs mauling something over and over and posting it so every tree hugger in the world can look at it and then judge all of us by what they see a few idiots doing! Not only what they can find on the Internet but then these same few guys with hounds with a dead bear hanging off there dog box, blood running out the back of there truck as they drive though town showing off there stupidity, or a coon hunter with a dozen coons in the back of there truck showing off like they have done something worth bragging about, these are the guys that do more damage to us in minutes than any tree hugger can do in a year! :x

If Dan Noyes was really non-bias he would do a story of the truth about the HSUS and just where there money comes from and where it is truely spent.

pcchop,

Nope, Dan Richards did not speak today. Nothing would have been gained in his having attended the hearing.

Not necessarily; the story was about hound hunting, so only a limited amount of time could truly be spent addressing the players on both sides.

As I said before, I'd love to see him investigate HSUS as the topic of its own news story.

Put simply, this is a very serious threat that should be taken very seriously. However, we have reason to be optimistic about our chances via a couple of avenues available to us.

We have a tough fight ahead, but in my opinion, no fight worth winning ever comes without effort.
