What Characteristics Make A Fast Bear Dog?

Gantte plotts have tons of heart tons of grit are 80% of the time super fast and tougher than most .All around good blood for bear hunting.Ive got a 10 month old gyp that ive started on coon and is doing awesome 20 coon from middle of jan to end of kill season end of feb im well pleased.

gantte plotts are also leggy deep chest for lung capacity ,cat footed if you cant tell i like gantte plotts.But this is all true they are awesome.

Where is the Ganette plot line from? Who tends to hunt them? Just had to get rid of a grade plott, drug-addict (mostly pot) roommates are very hard to get along with so I moved out. Just the red dog, a buddy's redtick and a pup from the two for now. They keep us well entertained but eventually we'd like to find a stud for the pup.

Fast bear dogs are fast bear dogs. I have seen them with all different builds. Its all about heart and desire. Great bear dogs are not made, the are born all we do is take them hunting.

Charles Gantte has had the same blood line since the 50s and has not made an outcross people all over the us have his dogs if you really want to know about his blood line look at any plott history because he is one of the greats.He dont BS and advertise or have his buddies vote his dogs in the hall of fame but i promise you one thing if he says fish fart you better look for bubbles and his strain of plotts are as pure as there are in the world.and all crap aside i know alot of people who use them and kill alot of bear and i know people who have used them to start there own line of dogs.Just like any dog you are going to get some culls but research his name and you will find out even the a holes dont have a bad word to say about charles gantte.I was just trying to help answer your question and all the things everyone said makes a dog fast his dogs have on the average.Plus nose stamina and grit conformation you name it there as close to the old stock of plott as it gets.Hope it helps you.

i am hunting a 1/2 gantte 1/2 ursus right now, depends on what you consider fast, but compared to the other plotts shes faster, but compared to FAST RUNNING DOGS, i dont know.im sure theres plenty of running dogs that are faster, speed is important, but seems like alot of guys get hung up on it.

dmyers, what is the average size of your full gantte dogs?

Ivy my gyp is about 45lbs tip my male is still growing but should be about 55lbs that is probably the average on gantte plotts mike his biggest male might go 60 but never weighed him Ive seen a few 40lb females and 45 or 50lb males in the line.I talked to steve he said he put some gantte in some of his line is that the one you got a pup out of or did u breed a urses to a gantte yourself.

Thought I made it clear with the second post that I was looking for physical characteristics, then several times defined physical. Tired of people with nothing better to do than pick apart every letter I type.

Going to join a local hound club where I can meet fellow hunters and get/give advice, not be bullied and picked on people that I'd rather have nothing to do with.

BGH has some issues and I'm tired of dealing with them. If someone wants to find me, its not too hard to do.

HA! Nope, I've never even owned a hound. Just like to make shit up. Never been under a tree, never even seen a bear in the woods. Hell, I don't even own a pu or drive on logging roads. I like to sit on a computer and tell every one I do, get a kick out of it! Anyways, I have a half rack and fifth that are half gone, oh yeah, and an 8ball, just can't get enough of that good stuff. It don't make any differance if you go and join a coon club or hunting club.
