The original owner probably knows more about the parents and where the problem could have come from. That was a good idea, I had that walker looking dog from Western WA, tried to work with it but he always had a thing for adult males. A guy playing horseshoes in the original owners yard got hamstringed by it. He could catch bobcat and coons, if he caught on the ground it was one chomp and it was over with. I just didn't want the liability.

You could definately tell he was from Western WA, he'd cower at the scent of a deer but boy howdy did he think moose were fun to chase. He helped start my redbone, probably the reason behind the early trash problems. Got the moose problem fixed but it just didn't quite have it for bear. Thats not the first time a Western WA dog didn't cut it for bear in my parts. Back then I didn't have the patience for it or the money to afford a lawyer to fend off a sue happy person. Good luck with the trials

I talked to the original owner yesterday and he said to get the dog snipped. Imma try that and let the testosterone get out of his body for a month or so and see how it works. He said if that fails to put the dog down. wish me luck!

wanapasawki,
Since it appears you are diregarding all the sane advise given to you, here is some more. Castrate him yourself, that way you are not throwing away good money when you pay the vet.
I won't wish you luck, I do hope that the next time he "acts friendly and wags his tail but when I start to pet him, all hell breaks loose, including me defending myself from the dog attacking me" it is you he is chewing on and not someone else.
You should use you given name, so the rest of us can avoid your dog.

Why don't you just clip the dog and keep hunting him?

Bloodlines and papers dont mean much as long as you're getting fur.

Also, obedience training should be the first training any dog gets. Sit, heel, hush, NO!, lay, here, etc. If a dog knows how to do these commands, it'll be a lot more confident in what you are expecting of him. It is too bad more guys don't start with obedience before trying to scent train.
