The stories were very balanced. In fact, in the first one, hunters had 6 quotes, the opponents had four. We were accurate and fair.

I dont believe you were accurate and fair by representing the HSUS and the bill they propesed without really knowing them. Did you state anywhere in your report that a hunters dogs will be shot for an honest mistake of accidentally pursueing a bear or bobcat. Killing house pets and members of a family to protect another animal that through evolution has been trained through instinct to run from dogs and wolves to the safety of a tree sounds completely wrong to me. Nothing you have reported about this bill and the true intent of the bill has been fair and accurate. To accurately portray the HSUS you need to do some investigating about what they are really about. Check out the humanewatch websight. Look it up on google its not hard to find. Open your eyes and stop acting like your blind the what the HSUS and there motives really are.
http://humanewatch.org/
Despite its name, the Humane Society of the United States is not affiliated with your local humane society. HSUS doesn’t run a single pet shelter and gives only 1 percent of its budget to local shelters.
This is news to most Americans. According to public polling, about 70 percent of Americans mistakenly believe that HSUS is a pet shelter “umbrella group” and that HSUS gives most of its money to pet shelters.
Why the massive perception-reality gap? We can certainly thank HSUS’s multimillion-dollar ad campaign. You know the formula: Slow music, B-list celebrity spokeswoman, and pictures of sad-looking dogs and cats. And that fine-print disclaimer that HSUS is independent of local humane societies? It’s on less than 1 percent of the ads. See how the scam works?

I can shoot an interview with you or anyone else and with the right camera angle and proper editing i could show your face then insert my voice or anyones else onto it and you would never know, unless you were able to jog and watch the video frame by frame, the Clipster and Amberfin editing systems can do anything and if you never have edited any of your pieces then you should get a medal because your the first.
P.S. the Senator lied on camera about use of G.P.S and i didnt see a correction stated during or after.
It's called Media Manlipuation! hell their course on it down here! you know, the entertainment capital of the world Hollywood.
You must be joking. Inserting someone else's voice? Bull. You can't do it without it being apparent. But, be clear -- I've never tried that. There's no reason to. I couldn't survive for 30 years in this business without credibility.
I actually edited both stories myself (welcome to the TV business in 2012; if you saw me in Red Bluff, you also saw that I shot the video for the first piece). I do my best to fairly portray both sides. Believe it or not.

Dan, thank you for being candid in your responses. Whats your personal opinion of SB 1221 and are you a member of, or donate money to, HSUS?

My personal opinion doesn't matter. I've been at this long enough that I can understand both sides, and convey their positions.
Never donated, not a member of HSUS. Part of that reporter thing -- you don't get involved in causes you may have to turn a critical eye to, including political candidates.

Josh,
Thank-you for taking the time to say a few comments on my previous post. Though, I feel differently than some, I'm merely human and have my own opinion.
I feel my comments on GPS and the "83%" were dead on and feel they were HIGHLY over looked and not pursued further by Mr Noyes. As for my opening statement, I feel he could of approached a few things a bit differently, mainly the video of the cub being stretched. It was difficult to see, I couldn't agree more, but thought he could of chosen a different clip to support the HSUS and Senator Lieu's obnoxious views. Just because a group of idiots allows their dogs to stretch a cub doesn't mean it needs to be aired for viewers at home to see and stereotype us worst off than we already are. I still give thanks to him even taking the time to interview and spend time on this serious issue. I look forward to his continued reports on this matter and only voice he investigate a bit further and cross reference on what's said regarding laws/rules to make sure what IS being told to him is accurately reported to the public.
In all, it's frustrating seeing false statements aired on television on a subject I think one needs to experience first hand before reporting for/against or simply "enlightening the public" on. I will admit sometimes my emotions get the best of me, but all be dang if I'm imaged as someone who has "no respect for life" or any other ridiculous comment when I'm in the profession I'm in.
Side Note: Thank-you for representing us well on Tuesday. Your professionalism shined that day in your speech outside and how you handled the situation as a whole. I unfortunately wasn't able to hear your opposition speech to the Senators first hand as I was in line to speak my own opposition to the bill, those who heard it, commended you on your ability to portray emotion in your wording. It was a battle I feel we as a whole fought well. A bit discouraging knowing or pleas and numbers fell on blind eyes and def ears, but more fuel to light the passion in us all to make our numbers and voices heard 10 fold in days to come.

Re: BILL INTRODUCED TO BAN PURSUIT OF BEAR AND BOBCAT IN CA
Mr. Noyes,
I just wanted to say a few things in response to your report and about your responses on this open forum. I don't live in California but i do come from a state that does allow hound hunting so i feel for the hounding families in california.
i watched the report several times and you are correct that there was equal time from both sides. But you cannot honestly tell me that the video was not put together to sway the public in some way. All the videos shown were the worst of the worst in hound hunting. The way that you and the anchors of the news cast talk during the report make it sound like that this happens all the time. I give you credit though for doing your job and bringing a tough issue to the forefront but it is the media that sways the public in certain direction and you cannot deny that.
i have a couple questions for you to possibly ask if you do another report on this issue.
When the bear population explodes in California and the bear start moving in to rural areas and become labled as a nuisance bear, who is called upon to remove that bear? Do they use government paid hound guys to remove problem animals? Does the government pay these hound guys to do just what is trying to be banned in California? Kind of hypocritical if you ask me.
Also, if there was some positive video footage of hound hunting in general sent to you, would you use it in a report when this goes to the senate or whatever the next step is?
Again, i mean no disrespect to you personally; you were just doing your job. I think you woke a lot of people up with this issue.

where can we watch or listen to what went on.
Re: BILL INTRODUCED TO BAN PURSUIT OF BEAR AND BOBCAT IN CA
what everyone needs to keep in mind is that MR Noyes is in the business of selling story's. The more conflict and drama the better the story, the better the story the higher the ratings ,the higher the ratings the more $ he makes. He is simply using us as a tool to make his story better. when he says his personal opinion dosent matter he is correct because he dose not give a sh*t about what happens to the houndsmen or hsus he only cares about making money. He can call it fair and balanced all he wants but what needs to be shown is the TRUTH and he will never do that because that is mild and boring to his viewers and he cant sell that.
In times of tyranny and injustice, when law opresses the people, the outlaw takes his place in history....

I agree with Boss Hog on some of his statements. Do you honestly believe that Mr. Noyes signed up as a member of BGH because he gives a crap about hound hunters? Hell no! This is just straight material for him to build a report.
Please dont fall into his trap. He is on here to gather quotes to later us against us in his later reports. He is on BGH for strictly gaining material. Please just ignore him and he will quickly leave because he is not our friend!
Dan you can come on here and can quote my post and ask all the questions you want from here on out, I wont give you an answer and I hope no one else will either. I hope everyone ignores him and his bait. He is a bay area news report and has slipped in here just for material! I hope you get banned because I can promise you everything will be back to try and bite us later. You are an enemy within prodding everyone just enough to get a response and that's what you want.

Re: BILL INTRODUCED TO BAN PURSUIT OF BEAR AND BOBCAT IN CA
My ultimate belief is that we have been fighting this fight as fairly as can be done. The opposition is not doing the same and we need to start fighting fire with fire. If we don't start getting radical i believe we will lose this fight.
We need to divert the bad attention and really expose the humaine society for what it really is. They honestly have more negative actions than hound hunters. They are the ones that should be afraide. We need to point out the ignorance of the senators and there lack of understanding of the bill. I am talking wide spread with comercials and flyers mailed to everyone and articles writen for news papers.
Facts need to be expressed to the public about hound hunting but not just with hound hunting, Exposing all the ignorance with the bill and the people behind it needs to be done, and not in a beat around the bush kind of way. Direct and to the point. The time for playing fair is over, when your in a fight for your life the only thing that matters is winning and that is exactly what hound hunters are faceing now.

First off, I feel your guys pain in CA. When I was a kid I remember the bans going thru oregon, the media was used to sway the issue. A anti group actually hired houndmen to shoot video of bad acts for the public to see, I remember it being in the paper here. I agree you need to do something to get the public eye on HSUS rather than the houndman. All it is, is a propaganda war. Just have the better propaganda to win.

Does the bill go to the Senate Appropriations Committee now?
