Here is a list of basic supplies that I carry in my first aid kit. Any other suggestions?
Hardware:
Forceps
Scissors
Needle Nose Pliers (both short and long for those unfortunate porky incidents)
Tweezers
Scalpel
Variety of suture kits
Cheap electric razor
Software:
lots of gause
variety of tapes
bandage wrap
aresol can of saline (squirts a gentle stream, very good at cleaning wounds)
super glue
hydrogen peroxide
rubbing alcohol (for sterilizing hardware)
Medication:
triple antibiotic ointment
lots of amoxicillin (fishmox is easy to find online)
lydicain (strongest over the counter local anesthetic)
rymadyl (doggy vicadin, anti-inflamatory, I have left overs)
tramadol (doggy morphine, left overs again)
acepromazine (sedative, very hard to overdose, easy to get from vet)

Re: Hound Doggers First Aid Kit
Instead of the Hydrogen Peroxide I use either betadine or povidone iodine. The hydrogen peroxide is good for short term use but after awhile it can damage skin cells. The betadine and povidone can be use as much as needed and the wound will heal better. This came from a vet I use. I used hydrogen peroxide and they recomended these.

I was told the same thing from a vet. peroxide actually retards the new cell growth is what I was told.
might add some surgical tubing to stitch in deep lacerations to allow drainage..

First Aid course
There are a number of questions which have been raised through the years about the power of first-aid training and just how it can be used. Common sense says that this is among the most important items to learn that will save you when in deep difficulty. However, what percentage of us think about it, or even try to discover it? Should you look around, very few people really get it, and most that, they appear to ignore the requirement for it regularly.

Re: Hound Doggers First Aid Kit
I have always carried super glue and a couple of suture kits. Have always been able to handle triage in the field. Then take care of my dogs when I returned to camp or when I got home.
