DC 40 Help

Post by Budd Denny »

I have two of those 40 collars that I only have reception part of the time out past 100 yards, and half the time it just shows a ? mark moving around leaving a trail, and it is never were the dog is?? I see the dog cross ahead of me and the garmin shows me that they are running somewhere else a few hundred yards away and I see the dog with my own eyes running the opposite direction. Is there something I can do to correct this?

There are several things that may need to be done by the sounds of it. One you may may the old antennas's and need to replace them. Second make sure the software of both your unit and collars are updated. That should correct all your issues.

I have a few extra aftermarket antennas for my 30's, will these work on the 40's??? While running dogs today I noticed that those two collars were loosing GPS signal.

Yes, they will work. Same antenna for the most part other than recent changes. Most likely you were loosing com signal. Without it there will be no GPS signal.

I've tried the aftermarket antenna's and in my opinion they do not work as well as the factory with the dc40. the dc30 is about the same as factory. but to improve distance I think it's all about the antenna you have connected to you gps. I use the magnetic base and can reach seven miles in the right spot "the high the better"
