hey why buy puppys out west when the cobbra line of plott hound lives-on in w.va and is used on pig, bear, bobcat & lion ? they are awfull good natural born too make biggame hound if hunted and if in a good handlers and good hunters hands with his other trained-out 1-3 other kept hounds ! Bear dogs arn`t made they are born and a good biggame hunter weeds through pups too locate that special pup / you can count on one hand in your hunten area the real beardogs that will tree 3-4 or 4-6 bear/solo...most of them calaber of hounds is worth 30-45 grand the price of a new 4 wheel drive dodge or ford ! a top hound has sold for the price of a new 4x4 hunten rigg sence 60 and befor that in the early 50`s they sold for 100 dollar bill in 61 for $ 300 . I offered Boone Shockly of Mt Aukum $ 20,000.00 for a 2 yr old male a black dog and he didn`t sell him too me and he didn`t laughf either/ by thunder he got half mad and said the dog wasent worth that kind of money and don`t ever do that a gin ! I said I offered that much cause I didn`t want too slite ya Boone. I mean he was not just a great hunter but was a building contractor and I offerend him what I at the time thought he might consider sellen the dog for/ back in the 84 erra ! a little later on I was glad he haden`t took me up on it cause the nice young dog just wasent that calabered on bear/but showed it on bobcat and lion however. I give Dough Wattson of Cowrederspot Pen. 750 I think it was for a 10 wk old english puppy out of Speck x Tinna and it was a third time same made proved crossing mateing and I waited on a list and for 18 months for that cross and my pup and he shiped it too me in ca. That pup run and treed up first time in the woods solo at 6 months of age/with a coon up !PIGLET wrote:I didn't mean that they all went back east but i know in the 80's there was 3 or 4 houndmen in north carolina that bought alot of dogs from this man Also a gentleman from maine named Dan Liberty also the man who ran foggy mtn guides in maine. I know the last 10, 15 years he's selling more dogs to guys out west here, but back then the word was sell them back east for the big dollar.. I think it has to do with salesmanship and perception to who has some money..
