Dean that's a bad one. The Weber Canyon fire near Mancos is really bad too. It has burned all across the top of Menefee Mountain and threatens homes on each side. This was a lovely area very close to Mesa Verde national park. Vermont houndsmen John Proud and I walked 15 miles across this mountain last winter with our hounds and now all that is left is ash. this was prime big game and cougar habitat.

The old timers had the preventative medicine for this figured out. It's called grazing and what is now called "prescribed burns". It still amazes me that this country is going backward rather than forward. Don't mean to be the cold one, but... It sometimes takes things like this for people to pull their heads out of their a$$.

Hey Shorty, you're not being cold. It just so happens that the truth hurts. We have a sorry government, that does nothing but mind its citizens business. And can't even take care of what they are elected to take care of. I have never seen so much national Forest mismanaged in my entire life. They have a natural resource at the tips of their fingers, that if managed correctly would offset operating expenses. But, no I guess it makes for better news to see people's homes burning, and have the timber wasted. Just another sterling example of good business sense I guess.

You take care and be careful, Willy

you know, all the good stuff fire insurance claims, so insurance skyrocket. People lose businesses, etc. etc. And the circle jerk continues I guess until the people finally have had enough.
Cry to the heavens and let slip the dogs of war. For they must feed on the bones of tyranny. In order for men to have freedom and liberty

After the fires are gone a lot of people forget about them
Those that have been affected have lost loved ones , houses , businesses are lost or affected badly , infrastructure is destroyed
Hopefully there will some continuing support for these people long into the future
To those that are involved in fighting these fires , stay safe
