Bobcat Season Prep.

Post by Unreal_tk »

What's on your christmas list of things to get or do before season gets under way with a month to go?

Here is mine

Work on the shop for fur put up season
rebuild my snowmobile sled
Have my sled serviced
buy a few more stretchers
buy a thermostat heater for the fur room
have all maintenance on the truck up to date
Few minor fixes on the new dog box before snow hits

I take my kids out and make them cross creeks, swim rivers ect. Its a cruel world and if they can't hang with me then they get left behind ( only the strong survive ) and at ages 6 and 4 there should be 0 problems. I make them spend hours in the woods spotting squirrels in tree tops so I won't have to look so hard for a cat when the time comes. The kids will take the dogs by leash through blow down for miles and by the end of summer they know how to navigate through that stuff pretty well. Last but not least I take my son out and give him a 45-70 to wack a few badgers and skin em out, flesh, and sew up the holes for practice. It's a good regimen and I'm hopeful it will pay off so all I will have to do is sit in the pickup and watch the Garmin.

I have been taking the dogs up in the high country and running them on snowshoe rabbits all summer. Not quite the fix im lookn for but its legal and it keeps em in shape prettty good. Some of them rascals can crank it on!

Well, I had a litter of pups this summer so the first thing I have to do is to make some money so I can afford to hunt :D (not a cheap endeavor). #2 run the cobwebs off the dogs...just trying to get em into shape and toughen up the feet. #3 start the groundwork training for the new pups. #4 build a new kennel and #5 get new tires for the truck and general maintenance to make sure I don't get stuck in the woods.
