Hi i live up in north pole im not currently hunting with dogs but hope to be next spring. I have a started hound coming from crazy cascades and hope to aquire a few finished hounds before spring. It seems like i heard of a guy on the alaska outdoor forum doing down your way with a pair of blue ticks. About a year ago

Hope that helps some

How does the bear hunting go up there? I'm assuming you have at least a somewhat roaded up chunk? What about the wolves?

Not saying to invade your hunting country but it sounds like there's plenty of room for the Cali bear hunters to run hounds...lol

Not much for roads where I'm at, but lots of quad trails, wolves are not a big problem for us. Our wolves avoid man at all cost. If you lost a dog for a week or so it could be a problem, but I have never had issues. Knock on wood. If you want to hunt roadbed country you will have to go to prince of whales island. But a bear tag is a draw there for a non resident now and they only give out 5 hound permits each year for the whole island and one goes to a guy that lives there. So really only 4 permits. Let me also add that that is a very expensive trip to make, you have to take the ferry and you better plan on spending a month there by the time you ferry up and then back. If you don't like lots of brush and devils club then you won't like it here. But, if you don't mind doing some walking you can run 3 to 5 bear a day without trouble once your dogs are in shape.
