I would run all the fox u can . A Fox race sounds as exciting as running a bear ,sometimes lasting hours , sometimes crossing the road right in front of u with the dogs hot on there a!; If u got the right kind of dogs to run fox u will have no problem catchn bobcats. Lions, bears that really run. So yes, Run fox.

What I'm asking Is if you would consider red fox to be trash or game

I run grey fox in the summer so the cats have time to raise their little ones..Grey fox in the summer crops are alot like cat races until they get wild grapes and persimons in therir belly then they run alot harder....Will catch cats mid October and the dogs will walk over fox tracks looking a cat by the end of October! Have fun.....

Ga. Catman, Just so you will know. I had heard ole hunters say all my life that a grey fox was in the cat family. This is not true. Ask any vet. I ask 3 local vets and the vet of the Birmingham Zoo. Auburn, Some big wheel vet in GA. They told me they went to school and they know what they are talking about. They are in the dog family but can climb trees.

Grey fox are not in the cat family. They are members of the Canidae or dog family.

I have not seen a red fox up close but have seen hundreds of grey fox up close and they are definitely doglike. Their toes are not retractable and they still climb very well, though not as well as a cat. In the natural world there are very few trees a grey fox can't climb but they have trouble climbing telephone poles for example.

An older post showing grey fox feet.
