I could not imagine hunting without the garmin. Tells you so much more about the hunt/dogs/critters.
I hunted pre-garmin and I loved it but honestly garmins make hunting so much more fun in my opinion. No worrying if dog X is heading for the highway or wolf country. Easier to walk and work with dogs (even in summer). I could go on and on but that would be called rambling.
Just my .02.

never stopped. i run both
Re: anybody every go back to raido telemtry from the garmin
I started with the Garmin. I ended up adding telemetry. I run both now. I like all the information the Garmin provides, but I feel I need the security offered by the telemetry. When the Garmin batteries are dead, I know I can count on the beep beep.

I have never stopped using them. When dogs are out for days i want to be able to find them.
Until garmin figures out how to extend the battery life i will always run both.
