dry flakey/scabby ears?

Post by jasongNV »

3 of my 4 dogs have dry scabby ears. All the dogs have dark heads and ears. The only dog without this is a redtick with lite colored ears. I'm thinking sunburn but not sure, they have tons of shade and water. There are no ear mites or critters that I'm seeing. Any clues or ideas are appreciated.

Lots of times its from flies and such a old guy once told me to use vasilene, it works done it for years now. Just smear some fresh on once a day, they will heal up nice.

You might give your local farm supply a visit and get some fly spray. They sell it for horses but works on dogs just the same. I deal with mosquitos in the summer as a result of standing water in the back of my property. I spray it all down there backs, seems to keep the problems away.
