My first post and Im glad I found this forum...Im sure I will have more questions.
I am finally taking the dive into some GPS...got a buddy getting the new Alpha system and Im going to get his 320 and DC40 collars.....
All of the DC40's Im going to get still have the stock antennas on them. I did some searches here and probably missed it but all the searches came up with the tuff antenna and DC30...so my question is, do the tuff skin antennas make a difference with the DC40's??

Re: Tuff Skin Antenna for DC40
They do, you'll wan to I would definitely Try the Stainless Steel ones.
But The main reason I would switch it would not be for distance, What happens on the DC40 collars with the stock antenna's is the small copper wire breaks in them and people won't know that they are broken so they will eventually loose range, however you might not notice it. Almost every DC40 collar that comes into here I replace because of a broken antenna or one that is about to break. It normally happens about 3-4 inches from the base.
I'm not one that Pumps up the Tuff Skins antenna's for Increased Range, It was always about durability for me, Some Got better some got about the same, and a few received low distances. That is with the standard Cable Tuff Skins that I was making (with the Clear Cable).
Since I've switched to the Stainless antenna's (which is a Red Cable) I think Most people have been happy, and I think Most have seen an increase. But I did just receive my first two Stainless antenna's back from someone that was not happy with them. I figure 2 antenna's out of almost 1500 isn't that bad of a return rate.
If you are not happy with it, I'll give you a full refund no questions asked.
On a second note, If anyone wants some spare stock antenna's I have piles of them just need to pay for shipping.

Re: Tuff Skin Antenna for DC40
i just replaced 3 dc30 and 1 dc40 with the tuff skin stainless steel antenas, and when i talked to buddy about it on the phone he wasnt trying to sell it saying it increased range but rather that it was a better antena durability wise, and that i might notice better range. well ill tell you i do get better range alot better. my hunting partner was watching where i was rigging and seen me at 2miles out. he never got that distants with the manufactor ones on. i noticed a 300 to 400 yrd increase when im tracking. No complaints on my 4th week of using them.
Re: Tuff Skin Antenna for DC40
Just wanted to update on this, as I have been using the antennas for a couple months now.
I put them on and did some side by side comparison and saw a good difference in disntance between the stock antennas and the tuff antennas.
I have been having a problem with a couple of collars recently and decided to swap back to the stock antennas to see if that was the problem. I saw a big difference (less) in tracking distance with the stock antennas...
So to sum it up...
I do believe the tuff antennas will add range to the DC40's
