I was able to find this on line
During session, governor must sign or veto legislation within 12 days of the day of transmittal, or it becomes law without signature. However, if the 12th day is a Sunday or a holiday, governor has until next working day to act. Governor has until September 30 to sign or veto legislation in his/her possession on the day legislature adjourns (usually August 31), or legislation becomes law without signature.

A question. If the amendments to this bill includes any dog that pursues any mammal, does it include herding dogs? If so, the cattlemen and sheep men should be interested.

Maybe the stockmen and wool growers associations would have more clout than hunters. They certainly wield more dollars.

Depending on where you are coming from the RT is the best way to get to the Capital.

Does anyone think it might help the cause if we all brought one of our dogs to the rally?

If you go to this HSUS site they have a form letter that you can "TAKE LIBERTIES " with and post a letter to the Governor, this what I did with there letter. :beer :beer :beer

https://secure.humanesociety.org/site/A ... lay&...

California voters have expressed their views against mountain lion hunting in two statewide ballot measures in 1990 and 1996 with the use of mis-leading infomation and lies directly from the Humane Society. While mountain lions are protected from the so called cruelty of hound hunting that we have no proof of other then the one study that HSUS paid for. Senate Bill 1221 bans hound hunting of bears and bobcats, and will cost the tax payers of Califonia hundred of thousands of dollars in lost revinues, 1.4 million the USDA estemated was spent on damage repairs due to bear damage in 2011, and the $185.00 per hr at 3 hrs per report that F&G spends per deperdation permit that according to the iformation taken from 1989 when bear season was cancelled will go up 300-500% with-in the 1st year.

Hounding also leads to dog welfare problems that we have no proof of and spend less that 1% of our budget on. Dogs may be struck by vehicles, die as a result of dehydration, hit by lighting, eaten by Asian hunters, or live out a long life doing just what they were breed and live to do, please VETO SB 1221, this bill will only be another drain on our state that we do not need.

Attn:ALL OUT OF STATE HOUNDSMEN
PLEASE TAKE 5 MINS OF YOUR TIME AND CALL OUR GOVERNOR!!
Tell him TO VETO SB1221!! be polite but get your point across.
Also that you travel to Ca. to hunt and you spend lots of your hard earned money here .
Make a point to tell them that if he signs the bill there will be no need to ever come back and you will spend your dollars in another state.Tell them what you think of the hsus! and that game management should be left to the Fish & GAME dept not politicians!
We are fighting for our RIGHTS and what we love to do and we need to defeat the hsus.
WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP!
We are all in this together and we will repay the favor when the hsus comes
to your state and they will if we don't make a stand.
If you could write a email or fax a letter that would be great but a least drop a call or two.
THANKS
Governor Jerry Brown
office 916 445 2841
fax 916 558 3160
you can do a google search for his website to send a email.
THANKS AGAIN

This is my email to Governor Brown.

Governor Brown

I find it very disturbing the way anti hunter are able to over ride sound wildlife management. Hounds are a useful tool in the management of bear & cougars. Just look at Washington & Oregon. They outlawed the use of hounds for both of these species. They now use snares & hire houndsmen to harvest these animals. Just to try and keep there numbers under control.

Also I finded it humorous that they are using Montana as an example of a state that has no bear hound season. I believe the main reason for this is because of there grizzly bear population & its endangered status. Montana has a very healthy cougar population. The main tool used to harvest cougars in Montanas healthy populaton is houndsmen & there hounds.

I urge you to let your states Game Department manage the animals in your state & not let them be managed by emotion. I hope to beable to run bear with hounds in your great state in the future. As it has a great bear population because of the excellent management that they are trying to change.

Thanks for your time.

Sad to say but do you really think it matters that you send e-mails , phone or whatever to these idiot's that it's gonna do any good ? They can just ignore them and no one see's how many people oppose it instead of them slipping it in on their hidden agendas . I think you guy's need to march down there peaceably with your hounds and show a force of unity . That way the media see's it and it would probably be headline news . J.M.O
