Wisc wolf hunt

Post by mondomuttruner »

59 shot or trapped out of 112 harvest quota in 3 weeks. I would have never guessed this kind of success in a million years. There has to be a wolf hiding behind every bush in the woods.
the biggest percent of tag holders haven't even hit the woods yet, waiting for snow.
Simply unbelievable.....DNR is going to have to take a step back and reevaluate there wolf counting practices...lol

I'm just happy that the season wasn't stopped again. I agree though that the wolf count is much higher than "their" number. The cattle ranch by us has had 20+ trapped from it by the APHIS trappers this year alone.

We really need this quota to remain open through deer season. Then those deer hunters who have a tag can get a shot at one. With any luck they will be poor shots and it will take a couple cracks before they actually connect on one. :D

61 now(and counting). Was hoping the quota would stay open till the 20th of December when the judge was supposed to make the final ruling on the use of hounds, but that doesn't look like it is going to happen. Hopefully he makes a positive ruling as far as 'training' is concerned..

You would sure think the harvest rate will be opening up some damn eyes on how far they are off on their count. The 'minimum count' they use now is horse $hit anyway, they need to use the regular 'population estimate' like they do for EVERY OTHER dang critter in the state.

I thought we had a pretty high population of wolves in unit 3 but there's only been like 6 or 8 harvested in unit 3. You guys to the north must really be infested with them.
I was really looking forward to running them with hounds and after they shut that down I asked for my application fee back and they said it's non-refundable. False advertising if you ask me. It's nice to see the population go down a bit but it's still just a drop in the bucket.
