Re: Hollow trees
Solved the problem run 4 coon into one hole so the top one sicks out then climb the tree and shoot em as they try to crawl out. At least thats how work this time. lol
Re: Hollow trees
I've heard, never tried, that you put a rope down the tree with a bunch of knots and try get him to bite it, then yank him out.
Or send a patterdale in!!

Patterdale or a Jack Russel. My budy has two and those little aggressive bastards can get into any hole that a decent sized coon can.

grampa taught me if they make it to there den leave them be but I've also watched him squall them out of their hole to watch them and confirm a tree if we don't see them we don't count it

Re: Hollow trees
When i was starting my dog i had problems getting him to tree. would find coon under brush piles and in old cars all the time but wouldn't tree. first tree he ever hit had a den in it 25 feet up and no coon out in the branches. so i climbed up to it and found a coon in it shot it and pulled it out. dog went beserk when i climbed the tree. been treeing hard ever since. have climbed a few trees after that but not many.
Re: Hollow trees
Yup time to call in the small dogs! My smallest Jack Russell is a female and she will climb most any tree but if she cant I just toss her up there and she catches a limb and finds the hole. It works well. Good luck!
