That's funny. Cause my 13 year old son just broke his femur on sunday the 28th riding dirt bikes and had to have emergency surgery to put a rod thru the bone. I think he saw the weather forecast coming up the next few weeks and wanted some time off school to go with me. Great minds think alike? Maybe not cause now he's a little screwed on his cow hunt in november.

i was cutting road trees with the help of the shovel . what we call a shovel is pretty much a ecuvator with grapples. the wind was blowing srtait in my face . i had sawed up 10 or 12 trees to drive over with the trees the shovel could reach. like dominos. the shovel was pushing the trees to fast instead of letting the trees slowly grab the others they were blowing through them . i was making sure the trees wernt going to break off as they rocked back tawrds me. i set the tip of my saw on a chunk that was leaning against a windfall . as the trees hit the ground one hit the wind fall which flipped the chunk which flipped the saw . i only had 1 hand on the saw and it was on the throttle. saw flipped by me hitting the other arm. several mistakes were made that could have prevented this . dont work in the wind, dont set up trees, cut the windfall off , keep 2 hands on the saw, use chain break, dont stand there and some others im probably missing.hope that story makes since.

Damn near every logger I know doesn't use a chain break which has saved my ass a few times at work. Do you grind your guides off a bit to dig deeper? I've been told they cut better by doing so but it raises the chance of kickbacks. I hope ya get healed up quick and get to hunting!

Thanks JC......... We all get a little complacent out there sometimes and shit can go wrong in a hurry. Sometimes a wake up call can go a long ways. I have seen lots of cuts over the years and i would put yours in the top 5. I hope it heals good for you and you can get back to normal hunting soon! And work ha ha
