First fox tree of the season.

Post by bowtech36 »

Out bear hunting an my black and tans blue up striking out of the box, with no visible tracks or slides we decided to turn lose any way they took off lined out running out of ear shot like they were on a bear race, after running some ridge roads and checking signals they were back towards where we started. We headed back that way and could hear the dogs bringing it right up the mountain towards us, run right below us and back down. Puzzled why they were running in circles, sat and listened then my female started chopping hard but my male was still baying hard, thinking we had one caught on the ground I ran a couple hundred yards back up to the jeep grabbed camera's and guns, came back to hear my male chopping as well. Me and my father in law began hiking in towards them and noticed they were treeing under a big oak, we then new had to be some kind of varmint. Dogs had a pretty fox treed, after a while jumped tree the dogs hit after it made a loss but quickly picked it up, trailed it down to a big creek about a mile circle and treed it again. Not a bear but sure was exciting catching a fox, since these dogs I trained from pups with no other dogs and I hear fox are hard to catch.

First time using the camera at a tree, excuse the shakyness and time to focus. Second video has better frontal view of the fox.

Good job dude! Nice black and tans too! I like the way the black on those dogs stretch way down the legs!

Yeah very rewarding for me. this is the third one we've caught the last two were last year in coon season but the fisrt one they never knew they treed it, and the second one it jumped soon as I hit it with a light. So it was fun to just sit and watch them tree on it, they worked real hard for it.
