I sure do appreciate all the help. I must say I was a little reluctant to share any of this. My training brought all this on, its not the 1st time I have ruined or damn near ruined dogs, just the 1st time for these dogs. I knew that female was trouble and needed a little extra work alone, but I pushed her on the other dogs anyway. Where I really messed up is when I pushed that button with the intent to break them instead of training. Me being greedy wanting perfect dogs has set them back a month now and I'm not sure how long it will take to get their confidence back. I have showed the BGH family my ass, hopefully it helps someone out and make's them think before they do like I did.

I am not a card player or a betting man. But these dogs I have here are kinda like a hand in cards. I got the hand I was delbt, I kept some cards and threw some back hoping for better cards. But eventually I must play my hand or fold, my cards are to good to fold. So I play the hand I have. Because I am willing to bet this hand is pretty tough to beat. We all want better cards, but if I dont get them then I will just try to change my play. I dont like a timid hound either it drive's me nuts beyond frustration. But if I see what I need to in a dog, I will do my best to learn to tolerate it.
Re-reading through everyone's posts. A guy can almost see the many, many dog's that have trotted out in front of you, thank you all for sharing. I know that all your experience has been earned only one way. From many years of chasing those dogs around. Thank you. John.
It has been interesting reading these post. I have and own dogs that are timid. I have and own dogs that are hard headed. It is up to each of us as to what we are willing to put up with. Bottom line is a good dog is a good dog. It is up to us to get the best out of them. Look at the top older hunters out there. They put of with very little that they don't like. I raise and go through a lot of young dogs because I expect a lot out of my dogs. When one has owned a top dog it is hard to put of with the rest.Good luck with your dog but also look at what your long term goals are and what are you willing to put up with. I will put up with a lot as long as that dogs makes a big contribution to catching cats. I will not put up with a dog that takes away from the pack catching cats even thou that dog can catch a cat. That dog can ruin a pack of dogs quickly. I love training cats dogs. But they have to be consistent in there ability to catch cats. Bobcats are not hard to catch with cat dogs. They are very hard to catch without them. Are you willing to hunt day after day without catching cats. I am not. I expect to catch on average at least a cat for every day that I hunt. I know guys that do far better than that. Its not hard to do , some people just make it hard to do. Dewey
Thanks Dewey, I understand what your saying. But in this case the fault is with me. I asked to much to soon from these dogs, and set them back. Live and learn. John.
John, wish I had enough cats to train on here to have your problem. Ollie has turned into a top notch Bear Dog. Only ran one I haven't got treed. Super rig dog and great mouth and guts to boot. My Insane X pup is outstanding and one of the hardest tree dogs I have owned in years. Caught a bear we took on Saturday and when coming out with it ran into Jesse Turner. He had just killed one over 500# bayed on the ground. (His daughters first big one) He asked about JC and how he was doing after his chainsaw deal? I told him he had offered to let you go to his trees for him till he healed up!! He spoke highly of you both. He said he also came to your cat hunters gathering last summer. He, Sonny and Jarod, his son and daughter Katie won all 3 places in the big bear hunt here this year. He weighed in 5 bears during the two day hunt, two over 500# and the 3rd place bear was four hundred +. Only one other bear weighed in at 321#, and his smallest was even bigger than that one. And would you beleive all were brown in color! Good hunters with good dogs, and it shows. Will be interesting to see what DFG will be doing with this new SB 1221 after January?? I plan on hunting my dogs, no guns and no kills, just making dogs. I guess If I get written up, you will most likely hear about it.
Sounds like your dogs are really doing great, but that is what regular hunting and handling does if they have the ability, just need it brought out. Hope all is well with you and yours. Tell JC and Al hi for me.

John,
Hadn't had much time till today.(babysitting day), But I have reread posts several times. And although sometimes I think why bother posting on this forum. Because you can never really make any kind of point, without hurting people's feelings. And really, I don't believe you took anything I said the wrong way. But just to make certain I really hope that you didn't feel that I was singling you and all of your dogs out, and putting the whole situation in the same barrel. The point I was making was my overall assessment of dogs with those traits.(Overall, broadband, across-the-board, entire spectrum,) Whatever one chooses to call it.
Everything else that I said is exactly how I feel, and in my beliefs. The real deal. Also, to clarify. There is a huge difference between being sensitive to punishment. And a coyote, SOB personality. Which normally go hand in hand. Which I flat out won't tolerate, even if they do walk on water when it comes to tracking and treeing. However, that is still up to the person that's paying for the dog food. Anyway, hope that takes away any misunderstanding that may have been caused. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Again, this is not directed at anybody personally. But maybe we can ring in the New Year. With the vast majority understanding that everybody doesn't get a trophy. And sometimes, instead of being butt hurt, when someone states something on here. Maybe we all should sit back and reevaluate what is being said. And possibly what we believe. As we all certainly don't know it all.
Take care, Willie

Cry to the heavens and let slip the dogs of war. For they must feed on the bones of tyranny. In order for men to have freedom and liberty
Willie, I did not take offence. I asked for your opinion. I agree with your views on a timid dog, when being to jumpy makes them damn near un-trainable I draw the line. Now I need to get back to researching Barometric pressure on google. Thank you. Happy holidays to you and your family. John.
