any ideas?
Took my 10 month old cur hound cross out today and put him on a hot bob track actually three. Didnt expect much I have only had him a few weeks. He put his nose in the track and would follow and get off the track on rabbit or elk now and then.I would get him started again even leashed him up and straddled the track awhile and would turn him loose cause I couldnt keep up. He never opened up never made a sound actually and never got more than a hundred yards from me. We followed trhough several canyons and ridges until I figured I had enough exercise and didnt want to look for the truck in the dark. I was not displeased with him just looken for tips on what he needs next.

Being you are just starting him out and with no other older hound help I would recommend keeping him on a lead and fallow out the track until you get it jumped then hopefully he will get charged up enough to run the hot track then turn him loose. Its alot of work and alot of the times a real headache but it well worth it in the long run. Too many guys are expecting way to much out of a young pup on bobcat. Its hard enough when the dogs know what they are doing to be successful on bobcats so just keep putting in the foot work and things will start falling into place. Andy

If you have an experienced dog or a friend with one take them together. It's amazing how much the younger dog learns from the older ones
