The BEST tip ever available for a new Bobcat Hunter is to read every page of the Bobcat Section....identify the SUCCESSFUL hunter who hunts the same kind of Country the Newby will be Hunting, then reread everything by that Hunter.

Next try to go meet that Hunter and learn from him/her...DO NOT ASK TO bring a Hound!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Read the other Posts always minning for tidbits of info....there is NO other Resource as comprehensive and as educational as the BGH Bobcat Section!

why not ask to bring your hound thats what I have been looking for and it seems I always get shot down I keep trying on my own.(to much invested cant give up) I have been around enough to know with out word of mouth or being a good friend or famaily that houndmen are a prety tight group, mabay I got bad luck. but I have been trying to get someone to take my hound and I out for a while. I think it is the next step for her all I keep doing is takeing her in the woods and hopeing instinct kicks in. It does seem to help but I know if she had a leader she could get the idiea.

Get yourself out in the woods akita. Only way to make it a hound is to find it tracks and work them out together. Most people will be resilient to the idea of bringing someone else with them unless they know them very well to begin with.

As for mighty hound hunter, good luck with your adventures!

Hunt as much as you can. Try and get a couple older dogs. For runnin cats you want fast track dogs that can grub and scrub a track quick at least that's how my lion dogs do it here and have got a bobcat or 2 the same way. Good luck.
