reasons for not taking others with u .

Post by coastrangecathunting »

i have never said no to someone wanting to go hunting with me , not saying i wanted them to go but i always said get in . so lets here some reasons why not to take others.
1. when i go hunting i like to give all my attenion to the dogs and my suroundings. like finding tracks and such.
2. the person u take might like to talk alot.
3. the person u take might come back and hunt where u took them.
4. there dog might run off game and suck your young dog with theres.
5. there dog might not make the race and u half to look for it for half the day.
6 did i say they might talk to much.
add some more.

I've got a person tagging with me lately. I don't mind taking someone if they are willing to put forth the effort. The things you listed JC are among that list. One thing that is huge for me is them not babbling everything I tell them not to. I hope I didn't talk to much!

Another thing is stopping at every deer or coyote track, its good to stop because sometimes ya miss, but it does get old! I call him trashy and the 6 hold!

1. some land owners will not permit you to have guest. 2. if harvesting toms only guest might return & clean out your seed 3. need to know the dogs you are hunting with, tree fighters can be deadly! Al

I hear ya JC. Another thing is there dogs teaching yours a bad habit that might not show until later. IE: false treeing, barking behind, etc.

Its hard to take someone new and tell them not to bring dogs as when I cat hunt I focus on my dogs just dont need other hounds mixing things up. Andy

Quiet talking people dont seem to bother me to much, but those people that have booming voices at the wrong times get to me.

Sometimes I glance over and look at them, then I realize they have no Idea that the dogs are working on a cat. They also dont realize they just called their pup and one of mine off a cat, half a minute before the other dogs put a perfect jump on it. "Why,s that damn pup coming out they will say", while their petting it up and also telling it its a good dog.

The 1st reason you gave is a big 1 . Also agree with Al, Andy & Thomas. Good nite. John.

I work too much and have to interact with people the whole time, hunting is my time to relax without those distractions. Exception is made for immediate family, they are always welcome but for the most part they don't seem to appreciate the intensity of my relaxation time.
Also I like to go hunting when I am ready and free to go, hunt as long as I feel like it or can, and return straight home as soon as I am done to maximize time with the family. A schedule like that does not allow for coordinating with other hunters schedules, demands, or dealing with their hounds.
The few times I have had non-houndsmen tag along, they didn't seem to think I was a whole lot of "fun", and I am rather insensitive to their "needs".

Maybe what my wife says about me is true.
