Al, the black was a young female which was around 70lbs and the male which was mature but no to old was around 110lbs. I don't tend to weigh any of them unless they are something special.

Re: First wolves of the season
A big wolf is around 125lbs, not to many get bigger. The 200lb ones you hear about never where weighed and where picked up by weak people. I think the largest wolf ever recorded was in Alaska and was 175lbs.

Doug
Not bad...those are two nice wolves ....good goin!!!!!!!
Feels good walkin into your snares when you see wolf tracks around and find a couple like those layin there...
The biggest wolf I have ever caught I snared last week in a lynx snare if you can believe it.
1/16" 7X7 no teeth on the lock and tied off to a 1 1/2" aspen ...!!!!
I had to weigh him ....and he went 123 lbs.
Most of the bigger ones I catch are 80 - 90 lbs with a FEW over 100.

Re: First wolves of the season
Thats something Brent! I hope your hanging your share of them!
Your right about the averageMale not hitting 100lbs.
A guy should take the time to weigh more of them unfortunately between trapping and cat hunting that doesn't leave aot of time especially if you have any skinning to do.
