Post by bwhntr13 »

What do you all expect from a 9 month old dog?. Mine will run wth the older dogs for about a mile on lion then turns around looking for me is this normal ? will she grow out of it? Should I correct It if so how? She has a lot of puppy left in her does she just need to grow. Any thoughts would be great thanks

I'm no expert, but what your describing is NOT ABNORMAL! Most every pup I've been around does this to some extent. Have patients and try to get the pup on a track that will be shorter than a mile. I know you don't know for sure, but you should have a good idea if it's a fresh track or an old one. That should get the pup to the goal before it turns around. I also will hunt the dog alone after a couple trees and if you have to, take it all the way to the jump and let it finish it alone. Good luck and have fun. Let us know how it goes.

it's normal and she'll grow out of it. be glad she isn't turning around and then running off. at least you can find her somewhere between you and the pack. just keep putting her on the trail and she'll gain independence from you.
