IDAHO SPRING BEAR TRIP
I am in the planning stages of an early spring bear hunt in Idaho. I will be bringing my two hounds and am looking for some local houndsmen who may want to hunt with me. I'm from Reno,NV and have family I will be visiting around Twin Falls and also the Nampa area, so I have been focusing my attention on units 43/44. I am not looking for a free ride or someone's secret spot, but just some good company, dog backup and hopefully some new friends! I'm open to suggestions for hunting areas and time of my trip. My hounds and I run LION and bobcats in NV, but we don't get to run bear much. We have a fairly new bear hunt in the state, but you must be with someone who has one of the tags and there is no training/pursuit season. With all that being said, I can't wait to come up and hunt in your state.

Have you drawn a tag only 75 given and no out of state over the counter tags

No I wasn't aware of the hound hunter permits until I researched the trip more. I ended up going with the Middlefork permit since they are unlimited. That takes out units 43 and 44 I know, but I want to be able to run the hounds. I'll be in 20a, 26 or 27. I'm leaning towards 27

Hey grogan sounds good. New Plymouth anywhere near the three Middlefork units I mentioned? We should probably private message and exchange info
Re: IDAHO SPRING BEAR TRIP
Ryan,
You might want to research those units better. From what I can gather, its fairly roadless. Wolves are also very present. Hope a local can confirm this.

Yep it's what's called wilderness area and has very few roads and most is only accessible by horse or foot and is way thick with wolves and is super rough country

Wow thanks beardogger and others! These obviously don't sound like hound friendly areas. And whilei have had plans to research this trip, you guys have put me way ahead of the learning curve with some good knowledge and advice. While hunting the hounds is my first passion, I may have to hunt by different methods on this trip
