Our Linn County Oregon sheriff's letter

Read the letter written by Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller to Vice President Biden.




In a letter dated Jan. 14 and sent to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington D.C., Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller wrote politicians are attempting to exploit the deaths of innocent victims in recent criminal events.

He wrote honest and law-abiding people should not be prevented from owning certain types of guns or ammunition magazines.

"Any federal regulation enacted by Congress or by executive order of the president offending the constitutional rights of my citizens shall not be enforced by me or by my deputies," Mueller wrote. "Nor will I permit the enforcement of any unconstitutional regulations or orders by federal officers within the borders of Linn County, OR."

The sheriff made his feelings perfectly clear in wrapping up his letter.

"In summary, it is the position of this sheriff that I refuse to participate, or stand idly by, while my citizens are turned into criminals due to the unconstitutional actions of misguided politicians."

I'm proud to have Tim represent us here in Linn County. When you blow past the three largest liberal counties in Oregon we are still pretty conservative.
