I wasnt being argumentative fella, sometimes I just come off wrong. Lets not ruin this mans thread. Sometimes if ya only have a few hounds on the ground certain coyotes just will not run at night. They will stand alot of hounds up. Some good uns can make em run though no matter what but it takes a special hound or two. A coyote is a dirty sumbitch at night.

Once again though, great story Mr. Carey.

Mr. Dan,

Thanks!

Redbone and I have been exchanging PMs about how Hunters do and have to do different things in the varied regions of this great land!

You know Coon Hunting is the only Hound sport that is not very much different regionally, but there are subtle variations on how you "cut them" in New York, ALabama, NM, or Oregon.

Yote Hunters in PA, NY, and New England run in the daylight and shoot the Yote ahead of the Hounds. Here and over most of TX it is Hounds only and mainly at night. Starting in OK and running Nort through the Plains and out West Coyote Hunters use a mix of Hounds and sight Hounds.

That is what makes this sight so great....we can all LEARN the different methods used to "GET=ER-DONE" no matter the Game of choice!

Mr. Dan,

You and everyone else are invited to come here in AR or to Florida and make a Hunt with us anytime.....well almost everyone...ole Slow and Easy and Big N Blue might be too Liberal for us.

We just had company from NC and TX drop in. Dad said that he would skip Lawrence Welks reruns tonight on TV and take them Hunting....so guess what I am doing! This will make us a day later leaving for Florida, but they need a rain anyway.

Hope that I have a good tale to tell you all tomorrow.

Hell NO you didnt offend me brother. I was just worried cuz I came off that way. Some of them sumbitches will shag ass at night too but most of em will run around in circles and give ya a good race or two.

Yeah I know what you mean some of the big males run like that in the daylight around here they will run 100 hundred yards and stop and if the dogs dong put enough pressure on him they will sit tight until they feel the need to go

Glad you all are enjoying this Story. Glen's races won't ever sound the same as one of his young Hounds was hit by a car Wed. night.

The same night our Rivers Hound Broke his neck jumping off the truck rigging. It is like loosing your best friend! Sure HURTS, but this is why you have to keep the youngsters coming on!

Thanks David!

We are not hurt as bad as the fellows who have had the run ins with those D---N Wolves....but it still hurts.

Rivers had ridden literally thousands of miles up there with out anything like this happening. Did he jump off when he smelled Cat....did he get pushed off by one of the other Hounds getting excited at the Strike....just do not know. Do know his neck was broken when he hit the end of the chain.

That truck does/did not have a rack around it as we have to put a double decker on when we travel. I have now designed a way to have one made that will bolt on and off as needed. Will get it built here in FL. this week.

The only good thing about this is watching the young Hounds to see who will rise to fill his shoes. I will try to keep you all posted on how this is coming.
