Cheaper??? aluminum dog box

Post by NICK RILEY »

I just finished a new aluminum/wood dog box. I've been wanting one for years but can't weld or afford to pay for a custom built one. I bought a 48'' x48'' piece of diamond plate for the roof, then had Pacific Steel take a 48x96'' sheet, cut it in half and bend it to my measurements.

I used the wood frame from my old box.(2x2 and 2x4 construction, treated plywood bottom)

I wrapped it with the new aluminum skin, I used roofing screws to hold aluminum to the frame. I cut the doors and windows with a jig saw.

All the aluminum, bending and cutting came to 375.00
the wood, latches and hinges were about 50.00

Looks pretty fancy. I like it. I was too cheap to buy aluminum so I built mine out of road construction signs. Is the floor all wood then?

Yes, The floor is treated plywood with 1 1/2 '' foam insulation on top.

Nick

Very Nice dog box, should last many years.

Hope your cat season has been going well.

I see Tredster has been doing pretty well! I was impressed with how he crowded a bear at such a young age.

Take Care!

Mike
