Need advise on how to go about buying hounds from websites or advertisements. I won't be able to see the dog hunt or visit owners in person prior to purchase of dog. What can I do or ask of the seller to limit being burned on the transaction. I need a lion/bear dog for mostly dry ground. Is there some type of guarantees to ask for or do I send half the money and the rest upon receipt of hound? I have never purchased a dog like this before, any advise would be appreciated.

If you can't see the dog and hunt with it and talk to the owners in person prior to purchase. DON'T BUY IT! By the way you start your thread it's like you are asking what is the best way to take being screwed. Well with lots of lube. If you want to hunt bear and lion in New Mexico dry ground than buy a New Mexico dry ground lion dog. One you can see touch, hunt and hand cash to the owner and for a good one it better be a hand full. Local dogs, there are lots of good hounds in New Mexico.
