garmin 220 and dc40 collar issues?
I have the Astro 220 and and 4 dc40 I have had the system for 2 years or so never had an issue the last couple weeks I noticed one collar was having issues wasn't picking it up moving question mark losing signal within a hundred yards some times so thought it was the collar was suggested that I put a new antenna on the collar preferably the lo g range one so I did next 2times out I have had the same issue but with all the collars I tried reconnecting them all but no change I discovered that my handheld said my track log was 99 % full so I cleared my system I'm hoping that helps butt haven't got to try it yet I was curious if any one k own about going to Garmin web site and updating the handheld and if I should do that since I have never updated my system in over 2 years has any o e else had this issue or similar issues? What we're they? Did you fix the issue and if so how? Got a lot of money into this system it was all caught new and taken are of and I can't afford to have my system down for very long

Brandon go to garmins home page, in the right hand corner help and support, put your curser on it, a box below it will open, click on software you should be on your way I have had similar problems and it helped good luck

mine did the same thing, sounds like the soder conecting your anntenna post is cracked. This is a definet flaw in my eyes. Be vary careful tighting antennas on the unit doesn't take much to crack it. I beleive its $150 for the repair when shiped in to Garmin.

The newest update for the 220s better supports the DC 40s, that's one of the reasons for the update. I would do that if you haven't. What makes me wonder is that this issue just popped up.
Re: garmin 220 and dc40 collar issues?
I would try the update, if that doesn't work take your antenna off and gently try and turn the antenna post in either direction. If you get any movement the solder is cracked. Your explenation of what yours is doing is exactly what happened with mine. Since it happened with mine I've heard of it happening with three other units just with the people I know.

I saw Dogboy running his antenna through the buckle on his collars, said it helped keep antennas from braking.I never had any problems with mine so i didn't do it.Well needless to say. Buddy got 2 of them mailed right away.If you dont do it you should. Have a great day.

You can also add a couple small zip ties through the collar itself to take some of the pressure off the conection.
The connection I was talking about the solder cracking is in the handheld unit not the collar.
