Relationship of barn cats and dogs

Post by super white hunter »

Just wondering about how people deal with dogs that get to run around when you have house cats all over the ranch. Have a puppy that doesnt seem to care much even when they walk right by

4 out of my 5 dogs will not even mess with a house cat, I also raised them right along with our indoor cat when they were puppies. I really do prefer it because I don't hear barking when a cat goes by them at the house. The one that will, she's not one I raised up but got older from another guy. However she doesn't bark at them at the house.

Thomas u r a smart houndsmen in my opinion. True barn cats can help train pups, but the problems that can occur later makes it not a worthwhile thing to do. Plus it is hugh blackeye for the sport of hound hunting. Al

My dogs are similar to unreal's, they will not bother with the multiple house/bern cats that we have around the ranch. It's really nice that they aren't barking when one of the cats walks by the kennel. It's strange but, they will bark at a strange feral cat that comes by to check on our females and won't bark at our cats. They know. I have a German Shepard in the kennel next to them and he'll bark at anything. I thought they were supposed to be "intelligent".....somebody wasn't telling the truth when I heard that.....
