Bobcat area?

Post by Mrcrazyweasel »

So, I'm starting to branch out from coon hunting into dry ground bobcat hunting. I've been told of certain place to look for them, but still not sure. I live between East and Middle Tennessee. These spots are along creeks, Have steep and big hills, covered with thick pine trees, thick undergrowth, and big boulders and rocks scattered throughout. Also there is open pastures and clear cuts nearby. I was just wondering if this is a good place to look or if i was just wasting my time.
Thanks :?:

habitat sounds good, what about food source--rabbits,boomers,rodents,heavy cover birds? If yes to the food, then start looking for scratches and segmented turds, good luck.Hope you find a pile of them, keep us posted.

X2 on the habitat. I know a few trappers that trap out that way and they get alot off of the creek bottoms where the beaver are using.

Find you some briar patches that have grown up in clear cut areas or strip mine areas. Walk our dirt logging roads or skidder trails and look for cat tracks and rabbit tracks. Lots of rats, mice and rabbits equals cats. I find that cats like to work clear cuts when they are full of briars on the Cumberland Plateau here in Tennessee. You can also sit in the middle of a clear cut and call them in with a game call.
