Off season
So what are yalls plans for the off season. For me its pup training. Only had one keeper out of last years recruits. A grade plott. Shes hell on wheels and lighting fast. Her downfalls is she barks every breath on a hot track and she will leave a cat track for a bear track. I do bear hunt so thats why I kept her. We didnt tree any cats but did run several. Evened holed one. Dang plott tried climbing in there to pull it out. Tore her face up and she acted like she didnt care and just kept trying to push deeper. Not wanting her to get stuck down there I leashed her and walked out. All the other races ended up in loses usually in rocky areas. She aint the best tree dog yet but at 13 months old she got time. Everything else fired at about 7 months old and she gets better everytime out. As of now all I got lined up is a pocahontas bred plott pup. I will be starting it on coon since I aint got a catdog to hunt her with. I figure I would get her running and treeing coons then put her on cat tracks. Maybe I learned a thing or two this year and I will tree one next year.
