Hey guys. Been a while since I have posted on here.

This is a good post, can't say I disagree with any of it. Modern electronics surely help you get the most out of a hound.

I take a different point of view than most of you. I'm hunting a breeding a pack of beagles to hunt hare. I won't use GPS on my dogs. I do use tracking collars and always will. I also use shock collars, but hate the fact that I need them. My goal is to throw the damn things away some day. Now, I'm not running big dogs on bobcats anymore, if I was I would probably use GPS also, but I would hate that even more than I hate having to use shock collars. It has to do with the reason I'm out there and what kind of dogs I am trying to breed.

Here's a couple videos for you to think about. The first one is of the Iroquois Hounds on summer walk:

The second is a pack of beagles hunting hare in Ireland:

These folks are doing things the way they have been done for hundreds of years. What we are doing today is certainly easier. I'm not so sure it is better.

Riverbottom,

It sure is good to hear from you here on BGH.....you have been missed.

Thanks for the links, I have been privileged to see the "Fox River Valley Hounds" out for Summer Exercise. It was something to see 92 Hounds under complete control. Somewhere I have a video that shows this complete Mastery of the Hounds by their MFH Tony Leahy, when I find it I will post it.

If you can find the time come out to OR June 15 and 16 for the Cat Hunters Gathering....you will be in good company.
