Montana sb 397 Poll

Postby iinvno1 » Thu Apr 11, 2013 5:45 pm

Hey folks lets take a poll of who actually took the time to voice their opinion of sb397.
Yey or nay.. I was for the bill for a couple reasons and did give my vote for it. So yay
My reason for doing this is to show ya'll how little or how much we pull together when needed??

Jason,
NAY, BAD BILL,WE'RE GOING TO AGREE TO DIDAGREE ON THIS ONE, just another way around the facts. We as residents can handle our own predators and that sb260 didn't work for any resident of Montana and was table, sb397 was another one put together by the same senator, he put the black bait and chase in there knowing all well he would sooner or later amend to have those taken out and leave lions and wolves as is.. When you try to bundle bills, if one doesn't work maybe the other one will. SB397 wanted to crush our lion population and then have up 50 non-residents, taken by outfitters to kill those lions. SB260 (A MOGA SPONSORERED BILL) wanted to give up to 20% of our lion tags in region 1 and 2 to non-residents, TAKEN BY OUTFITTERS. We had great elk and deer populations even with the great lion numbers we had back in late 80's to mid 90's. Lets lower the wolf population and not put the blame on the lions to thicken your money roll and just to kill lions. We as residents live in this state and pay taxes here and make poor wages (we live here for a life style) better get the better of the all hunting.

I contacted the committee and my Representative in case it made it to the floor. I say 'yay' on the bill, as I said in the other post, it is soooo much easier to restrict a right than it is to gain back lost rights. To return to the lion regulations we have now would be a simple process, getting hound hunting for bears legalized will be a huge accomplishment, it will be a major push back against the liberal agenda of anti-hunting and especially using hounds.

The HSUS is going after hound hunting at every turn, if we sit still and rest on our laurels, we are doomed. The only way to fight them is to gain ground against them, and to that we need to be educating the general public. If we are sitting still, we are moving backwards.

Some of the biggest opponents against bear hunting in MT are hound hunters, those opponents are out there chasing bears illegally without any competition from other houndsmen in the woods. If they are stopped by FWP, they claim to be chasing 'yotes. If they get caught with a bear in a tree, they say their dogs trashed while chasing 'yotes or while roading them. Hypocrites.

I did contact the Committee and the members seperately asking them to support the bill. I also put a long post on Montana Bear with hounds SB 397 giving my reason why we shouldn't vilify people that are opposed to this bill.

One more thing I'd like to add is that, I would love to be able to chase black bears here montana with my hounds, and have testified in Helena for hb 144 and was a fan of that bill. The biggest supporters of this bill were SFW. They destroyed the lion hunting in Utah, ask all the houndsmen down there. Look at their track record, look at the video and see who were the three pro-ponets for sb397, memebers of SFW.

I wanted to be for this bill but couldn't support it. I can't take a candy coated piece of crap and call it a treat. We will get our bear chase season and I will continue to help push for it until we get it. HB 144 was a quality bill that needed more support on the inside. We can push our own bear chase bill next round and not be tempted into selling our souls to help push a bill right to the end just to find out that the only good in it for us gets amended out and we are just left with the crap they actually wanted passed. Don't forget, this bill only allowed bear chase seasons in the same area it aimed to decimate lion populations in the name of fixing what wolves have done. I'm willing to bet that next round with grizz de-listed, we will get our bear chase season and not have to turn our backs on lions to do it.

First off would like to say I understand and respect everyones comments and opinions. I dont agree with all of them but such is life. If you look back at the previous post I made under the bill posting, I have made mention of why I thought this bill would work. Yes we would sacrafice some lions. However I think we would come out in the long run. My opinion is this. This country has no more balls. Kinda rough words I guess but not sure how else to say it. Terry their are people out there not willing to "handle" our predators unless it is totally legal. With that being said using the present methods for killing the wolf, we wont have to worry about ANYONE killing too many lions because the damn things are going to die of starvation. Your really under the false pretense that this situation is getting better? No its not and no it wont. We are going to sacrafice one way or another. Either with a bill that kills that gives us more liberal ways to kill the wolf. Or by the starvation of predators one by one. It has to end somewhere it cannot continue like it is. Believe me folks gotta love treein cats 5 minutes away from my house, but lets be real how long will that go on if there is nothing for the cats to eat? Not long. I agree with 406hound as well dont want a candy coated piece of crap either. If a bill can get put together either seperately or together that accomplishes what we all want I'm all for it. I'm not turning my back on lions at all but sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. If the wolf doesnt get dead we wont have anything to worry about. Is there really going to be the "perfect bill" unlikely. We need to remember as simple as it seems, we have to have the lions prey before we have the lion. I know is sounds obvious but..... So I agree before the wolf we had a pretty sweet deal well thats gone guys. We let them get away with murder and they still are. My point with this whole thing was to show us all how we did or didnt ban together. Was also for us to see if our elected officials in our hound groups did as the mob wanted or what they thought best. Verdict is still out I guess. Dont remember hearing of a meeting to get us together to see what we wanted?? So anyhow those are my thoughts. Right or wrong.
