Raw diets?

Post by Goose »

How many feed their dogs raw diets. I've been entertaining the thought for quite sometime and am just trying to figure out the easiest way to go about doing it. I would like some feedback from someone who is or has done it. Mainly pros and cons.

We get deer, elk, and any other fall game to feed the dogs and then in the winter we get beef scraps from a local butcher. We have found that you still have to give them a handful of dog food to help them digest. The only downfall to the raw deer meat is that the hounds get worms from the carcasses. If you freeze the meat for a week all of it will die off but we let ours chew on the bones. It keeps them occupied and keeps them from chewing on their doghouses.
